Hi there. I am really struggling to understand decrease to armholes. Any chance you could make a video?

Dear Mrs Megyeri, you will first cast off for the armhole at the beginning of every row both from the right side and from the wrong side then decrease 1 stitch as explained under Decrease tip (for armholes and neck):. Happy knitting!

Hallo!

Bon tricot!

The last line of the pattern is incomplete. It ends with the instruction to leave an opening "20-21-22-23-24 cm up from " -- up from what, the bottom of the vest?

Gauge: 17 sts x 22 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Increasing tips (for fronts): Make all incs on right side rows. Inc inside 1 edge st in garter st by making a yo. On the next row, twist and P the yo. Knitting tips (for armhole and neck): Make all decs on right side rows. Dec inside of 1 edge st in garter st as follows: After edge st: Slip 1 st as if to knit, K 1, psso. Before edge st: K 2 tog. BACK Cast on 66-74-80-90-100 sts with pistachio and knit 2 rows garter st. Then knit stockinette st. When the piece measures 10 cm inc 1 st at each side every 6-9-9-9-15 cm a total of 4-3-3-3-2 times = 74-80-86-96-104 sts. When the piece measures 36-37-38-39-40 cm bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-2-2-3-4 times and 1 st 2-2-4-7-8 times = 60-62-64-64-66 sts. Read the entire section before knitting: Neck shaping: When the piece measures 51-53-55-57-59 cm knit 2 rows of garter st over the center 26-26-28-28-28 sts. Then bind off the center 24-24-26-26-26 sts for the neck. On the next row dec 1 st at each neck edge. Sloped shoulder: At the same time when the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm bind off from shoulder edge every other row: 5-6-6-6-6 sts 1 time and 6 sts 1 time, then bind off remaining 6-6-6-6-7 sts when the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm. RIGHT FRONT Cast on 25-29-32-37-42 sts with pistachio and knit 2 rows garter st. Change to stockinette st, keeping the outermost st at the center front edge in garter st throughout. Read the entire section before knitting: Inc at the center front: on the 1st row of stockinette st inc 1 st at the center front, then every 4 rows a total of 0-2-3-5-6 times and then every other row 22-20-19-17-16 times. Side inc: When the piece measures 10 cm inc at the side as on back. Neck shaping: After all incs at the center front edge are complete knit 2 rows stockinette st, (the piece measures approx. 22-23-24-25-26 cm), then dec 1 st at center front edge every other row 21-22-23-24-24 times, then every 4 rows 6-6-6-6-7 times. Armhole: When the piece measures 36-37-38-39-40 cm bind off for armhole at the side as on back. Shoulder: When the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm bind off the outermost 5-6-6-6-6 sts at the side on wrong side row. On the next wrong side row bind off the outermost 6 sts. Bind off the remaining 6-6-6-6-7 sts when the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm. LEFT FRONT Cast on 25-29-32-37-42 sts with mint and knit the same as the right, reversing shaping. ASSEMBLY Sew shoulder seams. CLOSURES There are 2 alternatives: Closure-1 (as seen in photo): Make 2 twisted cords approx. 35 cm long – for each: cut 1 strand each pistachio and mint approx. 90 cm long, twist until tight, fold in half and allow to twist up on itself. Tie a knot at each end. Sew one to right front at the widest point. Sew the other to left front, approx. 16 cm in from the center front at the widest point. Crocheted buttonhole: Crochet on left front at the widest point on the center front edge. Crochet with 1 strand Paris as follows: 1 sc in st, ch 5, fasten with 1 sc approx. 1 cm below, turn and 6 sc in ch-loop back, finish with 1 sl st in the first sc from previous row. Sew a small button approx. 16 cm in from the center front of right side, on the back. Closure-2: Make 2 twisted cords, one approx. 35 cm long as above, and the other approx. 115-155 cm long (begin with 2 strands approx. 290-390 cm long) and sew the shorter cord on right front as described under Closure-1. Sew the long cord on left front. This cord will go around the waist inside the top and out through an opening in the side seam (see instructions below). Tie cords at the side. Sew side seams – if you have chosen Closure-2 leave an approx. 1 cm opening 20-21-22-23-24 cm up from cast on edge in left side. |
