Gauge:
17 sts x 22 rows stocking st with 5 mm ndls = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in.].
Rib 1: *K 3, p 5*, repeat *to*. Work k above k and p above p. Rib 2: *K 3, p 4*, repeat *to*. Work k above k and p above p. Rib 3: *K 3, p 3*, repeat `to*. Work k above k and p above p.
Decrease tips [for armholes and neckline]: Decreases are worked on right side rows inside 4 sts stocking st at each side as follows: K 4, slip 1 k-wise, k 1, pass the slipped st over the k st, k until last 6 sts on the row, k 2 tog, k 4.
Front: With 5 mm ndls and Alaska cast loosely on 98-106-114-122-138 sts [incl. 1 edge st at each side]. Work Rib 1 inside 1 edge st at each side. When the rib meas 6 cm dec all p-5 sections to p-4. And when the rib meas 12 cm dec all p-4 sections to p-3. There are now 74-80-86-92-104 sts rem on the ndl. When the rib meas 18 cm, finish with a wrong side row. K the next row while dec 13-12-11-8-10 sts evenly spaced to 61-68-75-84-94 sts. Work st st and start with a p row. When the front meas 20 cm inc 1 st inside 4 sts at each side [= k into the back and into the front of the same st]. Inc in this manner every 2 cm a total of 7 times = 75-82-89-98-108 sts. When the front mea 37-38-39-40-41 cm shape armholes: Bind off 3-4-5-6-7 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Thereafter dec 1 st at each side on alt rows [see decrease tips above] 3-5-6-9-13 times = 63-64-67-68-68 sts rem. When the front meas 48-50-52-54-56 cm transfer the middle 15-16-17-18-18 sts to a holder for neckline. Thereafter dec 1 st at each side of the neckline sts on alt rows 5 times [see decrease tips above]. There are 19-19-20-20-20 shoulder sts rem on each side. Bind off when the front meas 56-58-60-62-64 cm.
Back: Cast on and work as the front. Shape armholes as on the front and work rem sts until the back meas 54-56-58-60-62 cm.
Shape neckline: Bind off the middle 23-24-25-26-26 sts. Thereafter dec 1 st at each side of the neckline sts on the net row [see decrease tips above]. There are 19-19-20-20-20 shoulder sts rem on each side. Bind off when the back meas 56-58-60-62-64 cm.
Sleeves: With 5 mm ndls and Alaska cast loosely on 58-58-58-65-65 sts, incl. 1 edge st at each side. Work Rib 2 inside 1 edge st at each side. When the rib meas 2 cm dec all p-4 sections to p-3 = 50-50-50-56-56 sts rem. When the rib meas 16 cm, finish with a wrong side row. K the next row while dec 5-3-3-8-8 sts evenly spaced to 45-47-47-48-48 sts. Work st st and start with a p row. When the sleeve meas 18-18-18-17-17 cm inc 1 st inside the edge st at each side every 4.5 - 4 - 3 - 2.5 - 2 cm a total of 7-8-10-12-14 times = 59-63-67-72-76 sts. When the sleeve meas 48-48-48-47-45 cm shape sleeve cap: Bind off at each side on alt rows 4 sts once, 3 sts once, 2 sts twice and 1 st 3-3-4-4-6 times. Bind off further 2 sts at beg of each row until the sleeve meas 55-56-57-57-57 cm in the middle. Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off rem sts when the sleeve meas 56-57-5858-58 cm.
Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: With 4.5 short circular ndls and Alaska, pick up and knit from the right side 72 or 84 sts evenly spaced around the neckline edge [incl. sts from the holder]. The number of sts must be in multiples of 6. P 1 row around and k 1 row around. Thereafter work Rib 3. When the band meas 3 cm work 2 rows st st around. Bind off loosely. To ensure a loose bind-off work a yarn over ndl after approx. every 6th st while binding off at the same time - the yarn over ndl is bound off as well.
Sew sleeves on.
Sew side seams and sleeve seams inside edge sts.
Cord & Pompons: Cut 2 lengths Alaska, each approx. 4-5 m long. Twist a cord with the 2 strands and tie a knot at each end of the cord. The cord should be approx. 1.6 - 2 m long. Starting mid front, insert the cord along the last row of the ribbing [over and under], see photo.
Make 4 pompons in Vienna, 2 @ 5.5 cm in diameter and 2 @6.5 cm in diameter. Fasten the 2 larger pompons in the cord ends and sew the 2 smaller ones onto hair-elastics.
