Gauge: 24 sts and 32 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 (4" x 4") Pattern: See chart. One chart equals one repeat of the pattern. The pattern is seen from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette stitch. Rib: * knit 1, purl 1. Repeat from * - *. Border: Knit 2.5 cm [1"] stockinette st, purl 1 row (for folding edge), knit 2.5 cm [1"] stockinette st. BODY Cardigan is knit in the round after the rib with steeks for armholes and at the center front. Cast on 134-146-158 (182-194-206) sts (includes 1 edge st at each side) on smaller circular needles with black and knit rib for 2 cm [0.75"] back and forth on the needles. Change to larger circular needles and cast on 3 sts at the center front. (These 3 sts plus the 2 edge sts are for the steek and are not knit into the pattern. Place a marker to one side of the steek sts. Begin with Pattern 1. After Pattern 1 knit the rest with Pattern 2. When the work measures 19-20-23 (26-26-28) cm [7.5" - 7-⅞" - 9" (10.25" - 10.25" - 11")], knit the next row as follows: 5 steek sts, 33-36-39 (45-48-51) sts for the front, cast on 5 sts (for underarm steek -- these sts are not knit into the pattern), 66-72-78 (90-96-102) sts for the back, cast on 5 sts (for underarm steek -- these sts are not knit into the pattern), 33-36-39 (45-48-51) sts for the front. When the work measures 24-26-30 (34-37-40) cm [9.5" - 10.25" - 11.75" (13-⅜" - 14-⅝" - 15.75")], bind off the center 6-8-10 (14-18-20) sts + 5 steek sts in the front for the neck and knit the rest back and forth on the needles. Bind off at the neck edge every other row: 3 sts 2 times, 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 1 time. At the same time, when the work measures 27-29-33 (37-40-43) cm [10-⅝" - 11-⅜" - 13" (14-⅝" - 15.75" - 16-⅞")], bind off the center 20-22-24 (28-32-34) sts in the back for the neck. Bind off 2 sts on each side of the back neck on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 29-31-35 (39-42-45) cm [11-⅜" - 12.25" - 13.75" (15-⅜" - 16.5" - 17.75")] adjusting for pattern if necessary. Sleeves: Cast on 38-40-40 (42-42-44) sts on smaller double pointed needles with black. Join, being careful not to twist the sts. Place a marker at the join and knit rib for 2 cm [0.75"]. Change to larger double pointed needles and Pattern 1. Inc 2-4-6 (6-6-8) sts evenly distributed on the first row. 40-44-46 (48-48-52) sts. After Pattern 1 knit the rest with gray. At the same time, after the rib, inc 1 st on each side of the marker 4-4-6 (7-14-15) times: Size 1/3 months: every 5th row. Size 6/9 months: alternately every 8th and 9th row. Size 12/18 months: alternately every 6th and 7th row. Size 2 years: every 6th row. Sizes 3/4 + 5/6 years: every 4th row. = 48-52-58 (62-76-82) sts. When the work measures 10-14-16 (17-21-25) cm [4" - 5.5" - 6.25" (6.75" - 8.25" - 9-⅞")], put 2 sts on each side of the marker on a holder for sleeve caps. Continue to knit back and forth on the needles and at the same time put sts on the holder on each side every other row: 4-4-4 (5-6-6) sts 4 times. Now put all sts from the holder back on the double pointed needles and knit around all the sts with gray as follows: 2 cm [0.75"] in reverse stockinette st for the seam allowance over the cut steek edge of the body. Bind off. The work measures approximately 13-17-19 (20-24-28) cm [5-⅛" - 6.75" - 7.5" (7-⅞" - 9.5" - 11")]. Assembly: Sew a marker down into the center of the increased sts on each side and at the center of the front. Sew two machine seams around the marker ½ stitch to either side. Cut up for armholes and at the center of the front. Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 60-65-75 (85-90-100) sts along the left front on smaller needles with black and knit Border. Repeat along the right front, but after 1 cm [3/8"] make 5-5-5 (6-6-6) buttonholes evenly distributed on the row. (1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts over the bound-off sts on the next row -- remember to make corresponding buttonholes on the folding edge). Pick up approx. 90-100 sts around the neck on smaller needles with black and knit 1 row stockinette st, purl 1 row (for folding edge), 5 rows stockinette st and bind off. Sew the sleeves to the body from the right side as follows: Sew alternately a stitch in the last row of knitting on the sleeve before the seam allowance and a stitch on the body after the machine seam. Turn the sweater inside out and sew the seam allowance from the sleeve over the cut steek edge on the body by hand. Sew on the buttons. SOCKS Foot length of the sock: 10-11-12 (14-15-17) cm [4" - 4-⅜" - 4.75" (5.5" - 5-⅞" - 6.75")] Materials: DROPS Karisma SUperwash from Garnstudio 50-50-100 (100-100-100) g. Col. 01, natural DROPS 2.5 mm/US 1 and 3.5 mm/US 4 double pointed needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge. Gauge: 21 sts and 28 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 (4" x 4") Rib: * knit 1, purl 1*. Repeat from * - *. Socks: Cast on 46-48-50 (52-54-56) sts on smaller double pointed needles with natural. Join, being careful not to twist the sts and knit 12-13-13 (13-14-14) cm [4.75" - 5-⅛" - 5-⅛" (5-⅛" - 5.5" - 5.5")] in rib. Change to larger double pointed needles and continue with rib, decreasing 12-14-14 (16-18-18) sts evenly distributed on the 1st row. 34-34-36 (36-36-38) sts. If you want an eyelet border to pull a strand through afterwards, knit the next row as follows: * K 2 tog, yarn over.* Repeat from * - *. (This is not necessary on larger sizes.) Continue with the heel as follows: Heel Flap: Knit 3-3.5-4 (4.5-5-5) cm [1.25" - 1.5" - 1.5" (1.75" - 2" - 2")] in stockinette st back and forth over 18 sts at the center back. Turn the heel: Row 1 (right side): K 10, K 2 tog into back of st, K 1, turn. Row 2: sl 1, P 4, P 2 tog, P 1, turn. Row 3: sl 1, K 5, K 2 tog into back of st, K 1, turn. Row 4: sl 1, P 6, P 2 tog, P 1, turn. Row 5: sl 1, K 7, K 2 tog into back of st, K 1, turn. Row 6: sl 1, P 8, P 2 tog, P 1, turn. Row 7: K 2 tog, K 8, K 2 tog into back of st. =10 sts on the needles. Pick up 6-7-8 (9-10-10) sts on each side of the heel (along the instep) and put all sts on the same needle. 38-40-44 (46-48-50) sts. Decrease on each side of the uppermost 18-18-20 (20-20-22) sts which are knit in stockinette st (these sts directly on top of the foot can also be knit in rib to make the sock more elastic). Decrease every row: 1 st 3-4-5 (6-7-7) times. 32-32-34 (34-34-36) sts. When the foot measures 7-8-9 (10-11-13) cm [2.75" - 3-⅛" - 3.5" (3-⅞" - 4-⅜" - 5-⅛")] (from the beginning of the turning for the heel), decrease for the toe. Knit stockinette st and attach a marker on each side, dec 1 st on each side of the marker (4 decreases per row in all) 6-6-7 (7-7-7) times on alternately every and every other row. 8-8-6 (6-6-8) sts. Pull the doubled strand through the last sts and sew. |
