Thanks for sharing this pattern. I was just practicing to see if I could follow the pattern and used what I had available. It is a very soft yarn and I also ran out. I am wondering if this is the reason my brim is so floppy or did I crochet the sc's to loosely.
07.08.2011 - 14:24DROPS Design answered:
When using the original yarn, and following the given gauge, there should be no problems :)

The hat is crocheted from top and down. 1st round: Crochet 2 ch with Snow and hook size 5 mm(US H/8, crochet 7 dc in the 1st ch, finish with 1 sl st in the 1st dc = 7 dc. 2nd round: Read Crochet info! Crochet 1 dc in every dc until piece measures 11-12 cm – on last round inc 1-0 dc = 64-70 dc. Crochet the 3 following rounds like this: 1st round: In every other dc you crochet 4 tr tog on top like this (the very first tr substitutes by 3 ch): * crochet 1 tr but wait with last ’pull through’ *, repeat *-* a total of 3 times = 4 st on hook, make yo and pull the tread through all 4 sts, * 1 ch, skip 1 dc, 4 tr in next dc (remember to wait with last ‘pull through’ until you have 5 sts on hook) *, repeat *-* and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch in the beg of row. 2nd and 3rd round: Start with 4 ch. Then crochet 4 tr in ch from last round the same way as on last round and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch in the beg of row. Next round continues with 1 dc in every st at the same time on 2nd round after the bobbles inc 10-12 dc evenly distributed = 74-82 dc. Then crochet 1 round like this: *1 dc in first dc, 2 dc in following dc *, repeat *-* = 111-123 dc. Continue crochet 1 dc in every dc until piece measures 25-26 cm. Cut and fasten the tread.
