Buongiorno Alanto.

SHAWL: Shawl is worked from bottom up – see M.1 (loop = A and knot = B in M.1). ROW 1: Ch 1 (= C in M.1) with hook size 7 mm / K/10½ and 1 strand Symphony or 1 strand Brushed Alpaca Silk and 1 strand BabyAlpaca Silk.. * Pull st on hook approx 2 cm / 3/4'' long, make 1 YO, pull YO through st, insert hook in loop (see M.2 – loop = D) behind the long st, make 1 YO, pull yarn through loop (= 2 sts on hook), 1 YO, pull YO through the 2 sts on hook * (from *-* = 1 love knot). Repeat from *-* another 3 times (= 4 knots) and connect them with a sc in the first ch to form a square. ROW 2: Turn piece, work 3 love knots, then 1 sc in the 3rd knot from row 1 (work sc in B - see M.1), work 3 love knots and 1 sc in the 2nd knot from row 1 (= 2 squares on row). ROW 3: Turn piece, work 1 love knot and fasten with 1 sc in 2nd knot from previous row (i.e. in the last square) – you have now turned and are ready to continue on this row: Work 3 love knots, 1 sc at the top of the last square from previous row, 2 love knots, 1 sc at the top of next square, 3 love knots, 1 sc in the first love knot in the first square from previous row (= 3 squares on row). ROW 4: Turn piece, work 1 love knot and fasten with 1 sc in 2nd knot in the last square from previous row – you have now turned and are ready to continue on this row: Work 3 love knots, 1 sc at the top of the last square from previous row, 2 love knots, 1 sc at the top of next square, 2 love knots, 1 sc at the top of next square, 3 love knots, 1 sc in the first love knot in the first square from previous row (= 4 squares on row). Continue like this, turning each row as explained above under row 3, and making 1 more square for each row. There are 3 love knots each side and 2 love knots across the row (each square has a total of 4 knots). Continue until shawl measures approx 180 cm / 71'' at the top (place it flat for measurements), or desired width. Cut and fasten thread. |
