In the pattern, tension is "width of 2 pattern repeats" = 10 x 3.5cm. So the height is 3.5cm. Increasing for the sleeve adds 4 vertical repeats which is 14cm (i.e. 3.5cm x 4). The length of sleeve is 43.5cm. Taking 14cm away gives 29.5cm. So the length of the sleeve before the increases is 29.5cm (not 36.5cm on the chart). Please let me know if this is correct.
16.05.2026 - 11:54DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mary, tension was here wrong in the English pattern, you should have 2 repeats in width = 10 cm but 1 repeat in height = 3,5 cm (correction is now done thank you). So that you increase after 29,5 cm and work 2 repeats in height = 36,5 cm - now increase 2 repeats on each side and work 1 repeat in height and increase 2 repeats on each side and work the last repeat = 7 cm sleeve cap = 43,5 cm in total. Happy crocheting!

In the pattern text for the sleeves it states that increases start after 29.5cm. However, on the diagram plan for the cardigan it appears that the increasing starts after 36.5cm. Can you explain this discrepancy please?
10.05.2026 - 00:02DROPS Design answered:
Hi Mary, The correct length before the first increase is 36.5 cm. Regards, Drops Team.

Thank you for clarification of treble to in row 4 and 5. I think the diagram explanation could be changed to read "OR" instead of "and" in st on row 5.

Thank you for your clarification of rows 2 and 3. I'm at the last stitch of row 4 which is a long vertical bar with the description "= 1 tr (crochet in the loop on row 4 and in the st on row 5)". This is row 4 so how can I include a st from row 5 that has not been made yet? I'm a bit confused. Please explain.
16.04.2026 - 18:26DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mary, on row 4 you will crochet the treble crochet around the chain space below and on row 5 you will crochet this treble crochet in the treble crochet from row below, ie the symbol is the same for both rows, wether you work the treble crochet in the chain space or in the treble from row 4. Happy crocheting!

I don\'t understand the response to row 3. Just to clarify row 3 starts above the X for one chain to turn and reading from right to left. Your solution states: 1dc, 1dc in first ch-space, then *5chains 1dc in next ch-space, 5chains, 5dc in next ch-space (my question here: how do I put these two instructions into one ch-space? This solution seems to differ from the diagram. Should this be just 1dc instead of 5dc?).
16.04.2026 - 14:14DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mary and yes, sorry for mistyping, it was supposed to be 1 dc instead of 5 dc (but note that this is using UK-Crochet terminology, not US - where you should here work sc instead of dc); so you should work instead on row 3 : 1 dc in first dc, 1 dc in first ch-space, then *5 chains, 1 dc in next ch-space, 5 chains, 1 dc in next ch-space, 5 chains, 1 dc in next ch-space, 5 chains, 1 dc in each of the next 2 ch-spaces*, repeat from *-* and finish with 5 chains, 1 dc in next ch-space, 5 chains, 1 dc in next ch-space, 5 chains, 1 dc in last ch-space - sorry for this. Happy crocheting!

I'm reading ahead to row 3 of pattern 29-5. I'm confused as to what happens after the third set of 5ch, 1dc. Then there are no ch between the next 2dc. Is this correct?
15.04.2026 - 18:08DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mary, on row 3 work: 1 dc in first dc, 1 dc in first ch-space, then *5 chains, 1 dc in next ch-space, 5 chains, 5 dc in next ch-space, 5 chains, 1 dc in each of the next 2 ch-spaces*, repeat from *-* and finish with 5 chains, 1 dc in next ch-space, 5 chains, 1 dc in next ch-space, 5 chains, 1 dc in last ch-space. So correct, you will have 2 dc next to each other (without chains between) between each repeat. Happy crocheting!

I'm trying to interpret row 2 of front piece. My understanding from the diagram is as follows: After row 1 is complete, there are 73dc in row 1. Begin Row 2, 1ch, 1dc into first dc of previous row, (skip next 2dc on previous row, 3ch and 1tr into next dc on previous row) repeat inside brackets to end of row. Please let me know if this is correct. Thank you
15.04.2026 - 17:24DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mary, on 2nd row you work only double crochets (Uk crochet terminology) between the 3 chain stitches -spaces, ie work (1 double crochet in first/next stitch, 3 chains, skip 2 sts) repeat from (to) and end with 1 double crochet in the last double crochet. Happy crocheting!
