Tak for hjælpen. Hilsen Ellen

Is there an error in Pattern #3, second color group from the bottom (color group Apple Green Alpaca and Lime Green Vivaldi) ? It indicates 9 rows of color group, but all other groups are in multiples of 2. If this is an error, how should it and other colors in the Pattern be adjusted?
30.01.2017 - 23:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Lollich, it looks like you should only work 8 rows with these colours to get the total of 36 rows in M.3. Happy knitting!

DROPS Cardigan in Alpaca and Vivaldi and Brooch in Alpaca

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Gauge: 14 sts x 20 rows with 1 strand of each yarn (2 strands) on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Pattern: See charts. The pattern is knit entirely in stockinette st. Pattern 1: 18 rows = approx. 9 cm. Pattern 2: 40 rows = approx. 20 cm Pattern 3: 36 rows = approx. 18 cm Rib: * K 4, P 4 *, repeat * - *. Knitting tip: The cardigan is knit from side to side, so the row gauge is very important. If your gauge is too tight, the cardigan will be too small – adjust for this by knitting more rows in each color combination. If your gauge is too loose, the cardigan will be too large – adjust for this by knitting fewer rows in each color combination. Back: Loosely cast on 21-21-23-23-23 sts on larger circular needles with 1 strand each light seafoam Alpaca + mint Vivaldi (2 strands) and knit stockinette st. After 2 rows loosely cast on new sts at one side every other row: 22-23-23-24-25 sts 3 times = 87-90-92-95-98 sts (= side). After last inc change to 1 strand each natural Alpaca + mint Vivaldi – measure the work from here. Knit 6-6-6-8-10 rows stockinette st, then inc for armhole at the same side as you previously increased, every other row: 2 sts 1-2-4-5-7 times and 26-25-23-22-19 sts 1 time = 115-119-123-127-131 sts. Knit 1 row back, then follow color combinations according to chart for Pattern 1 (start at bottom of chart). After Pattern 1 (the piece measures 14-15-17-19-22 cm) continue with the colors in the last stripe. When the piece measures 22-24-26-29-32 cm put a marker at each side = this is the center back. When the piece measures 30-33-35-39-42 cm – be sure that the number of rows is the same at each side of center back – knit Pattern 1 again but start at the top of the chart so the pattern will be a mirror image of the other side. After Pattern 1 change to 1 strand each natural Alpaca + mint Vivaldi. Then bind off for armhole on the same side as you previously increased every other row: 26-25-23-22-19 sts 1 time and then 2 sts 1-2-4-5-7 times = 87-90-92-95-98 sts. Knit 6-6-6-8-10 rows, then change to 1 strand each light seafoam Alpaca + mint Vivaldi. Now bind off on the same side as armhole every other row: 22-23-23-24-25 sts 3 times and then the remaining 21-21-23-23-23 sts. Left front: Cast on and knit the same as the back. Inc for armhole as on back = 115-119-123-127-131 sts and knit Pattern 1 as on back. When Pattern 1 is complete, the piece measures 14-15-17-19-22 cm (measure from last inc at side as on back), bind off all sts loosely (= center front). Right front: Knit the same as the left front, reversing all shaping. Sleeve: Loosely cast on 34-34-42-42-42 sts on smaller circular needles with 1 strand each light seafoam Alpaca + mint Vivaldi. P 1 row (wrong side), then knit rib, keeping 1 st at each edge in garter st. After 2 rows rib change to 1 strand each natural Alpaca + mint Vivaldi. Continue in rib until the piece measures 6 cm. Now K 3 rows (1st row = wrong side), change to larger circular needles and stockinette st, and follow the chart for Pattern 2. After Pattern 2, knit Pattern 3, then knit with 1 strand each natural Alpaca + mint Vivaldi to finished measurements. When the piece measures 10-10-10-12-13 cm inc 1 st at each side every 4.5-3.5-5-3.5-2.5 cm a total of 9-11-8-10-12 times = 52-56-58-62-66 sts. When the piece measures 48-48-48-46-44 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2-2-2-3-3 times and 1 st 2-3-4-4-6 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 55-56-57-57-57 cm, then bind off 3 sts 1 time at each side. Bind off the remaining sts, the piece measures approx. 56-57-58-58-58 cm. Assembly: The cardigan is assembled with the purl side out – this is now called the right side. Lower edge of back: Pick up 78-86-94-102-110 sts on smaller circular needles with 1 strand each dark mint Alpaca + mint Vivaldi. K 2 rows garter st (1st row on wrong side), then knit rib, keeping 1 st at each edge in garter st and begin rib with K 4 (as seen from the right side). When the rib measures 2 cm bind off loosely in rib. Lower edge of fronts: Pick up 26-26-34-34-42 sts on smaller circular needles with 1 strand each dark mint Alpaca + mint Vivaldi. K 2 rows garter st (1st row on wrong side), then knit rib, keeping 1 st at each edge in garter st – see that you get K 4 inside of the edge st at the center front (as seen from the right side). When the rib measures 2 cm bind off loosely in rib. Sew shoulder seams. Buttonband: Pick up from right side, approx. 276-324 sts (divisible by 8 + 4) up along right front, back neck and down along left front on smaller circular needles with 1 strand each light seafoam Alpaca + mint Vivaldi. K 2 rows garter st (1st row on wrong side). Then knit rib, keeping 4 sts in garter st at each lower edge and beginning rib with K 4 (as seen from the right side). When buttonband measures 4 cm inc all P 4 to P 5 (as seen from the right side) = approx. 309-363 sts. When button bands measures 6 cm inc all P 5 to P 6 over the center 28-36-36-44-44 sts in back neck = approx. 312-368 sts. When button bands measures 9-10-10-11-11 cm change to 1 strand each dark mint Alpaca + mint Vivaldi. Knit 2 rows in rib garter st as established, then bind off all sts loosely in pattern. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. Crocheted flowers: Crochet 2 flowers for decoration on the cardigan, or for closure, if desired. Flower: Ch 4 with 2 strands light seafoam Alpaca and join into a ring with 1 sl st. 1st row: * 1 sc in ring, ch 3 ,* repeat from * - * a total of 3 times and finish with 1 sl st in first sc at start of row = 3 ch-loops. 2nd row: Crochet in each ch-loop: 1 sl st, 5 dc and 1 sl st = 3 petals. Turn piece - crochet the next row from back side. 3rd row: ch 1, crochet 1 sc around the first sc from 1st row, ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 4th dc of first petal on 2nd row, then ch 3, 1 sc in lower edge of the 1st dc in second petal on 2nd row, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 5th dc in second petal on 2nd row, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 2nd dc in the 3rd petal on 2nd row, then ch 3 and finish with 1 sl st in the first ch at start of row = 5 ch-loops. Turn piece – crochet the next row from front side. 4th row: Crochet in each ch-loop: 1 sl st, 6 dc and 1 sl st = 5 petals. Turn piece – crochet the next row from back side. 5th row: ch 1, crochet 1 sc around first sc from 3rd row, ch 3, 1 sc in lower edge of the 5th dc in the 1st petal on 4th row, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 4th dc in second petal on 4th row, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 3rd dc in the third petal on 4th row, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 2nd dc in the 4th petal on 4th row, then ch 3, 1 sc in the lower edge of the 1st dc in the 5th petal on 4th row, then ch 3 and finish with 1 sl st in first ch at start of row = 6 ch-loops. Turn piece – crochet the next row from front side. 6th row: Crochet in each ch-loop: 1 sl st, 6 dc and 1 sl st = 6 petals. Cut yarn and fasten. Sew a small safety pin to back side. |
