Hi Peyton, The Vs are the tops of arrows which show you where to begin the diagram in the different pieces (i.e., front and back pieces). Regards, Drops team..

Bon tricot!

DROPS 45-4 |

Knitting gauge: Cotton Chenille: 14 sts x 26 rows on needle size 4 mm / US 6 in pattern = 10 x 10 cm / 4" x 4". Vienna: 14 sts x 16 rows on needle size 6 mm / US 10 in pattern = 10 x 10 cm / 4" x 4" Garter sts( back and forth on needle): knit all rows. Pattern: See diagram. 1 diagram = 1 repeat. Arrows: Bakstk = back piece v. forstk = left front piece h. forstk = right front piece Buttons: If you prefer buttons instead of zipper: Cast on 2 less sts and knit pattern as described with 1 edge st each side towards mid front. Dec 1 less st for neck on the first dec. Knit front edges before crochet the border as follows: pick up approx 44 to 48 sts along left front piece on needle size 4 mm / US 6 and knit 3 cm / 1⅛" Rib (K2, P2). Repeat along right front piece, but after 1 cm / ⅜" make 5 buttonholes evenly distributed on row. 1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts on the return row. Knitting tip: If knitting in Vienna, make the following changes to dec and inc: On every other row = alternate between every and every other row On every 4th row = alternate between every other and every 3rd row Alternate between every 4th and 5th row= alternate between every 2nd and 3rd row On every 5th row = on every 3rd row On every 6th row = alternate between every 3rd and 4th row Back and front piece: Knitted back and forth on circular needle from mid front. Cast on 133-141-149 sts on circular needle size 4 mm / US 6. Insert a marker each side as follows: 34-36-38 sts, marker, 65-69-73 sts = back piece, marker, 34-36-38 sts. Continue in pattern – beg by arrow for appropriate piece – with 2 sts each side in garter sts (for zipper). After 15-17-16 rows inc on both sides of each markeras follows: 1 st 3-3-3 times on every 15-17-16 rows = 145-153-161 sts. When piece measures 23-25-24 cm knit next row as follows: 36-38-40 sts = front piece, bind off 2 sts for armhole, 69-73-77 sts = back piece, bind off 2 sts for armhole, 36-38-42 sts = front piece. Now complete each piece separately. Right front piece: = 36-38-40 sts. Dec to shape the armhole on every other row: 2 sts 0-0-1 time and 1 st 2-2-2 times = 34-36-36 sts. When piece measures 32 cm bind off for neck on every other row: 3-4-4 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time; on every 4th row 1 st 3 times and then on every 6th row: 1 st 2 times. Bind off remaining sts when piece measures 48-50-50 cm. Left front piece: Like right front piece, but mirrored. Back piece: = 69-73-77 sts. Dec to shape the armhole as described for front piece = 65-69-69 sts. When piece measures 46-48-48 cm bind off the middle 17-19-19 sts for neck and dec 2 sts on neckline on next row. Bind off remaining sts when piece measures 48-50-50 cm. Sleeves: Knitted back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 33-33-35 sts needle size 4 mm / US 6 and knit pattern – make sure to have the 5 K sts in the centre. When piece measures 5 cm / 2" inc 1 st each side 20 times on every 5th row for all sizes = 73-73-75 sts. When piece measures 46-46-45 cm dec for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 4-4-3 sts 6-6-9 times and bind off. Sleeve measures approx 51-51-52 cm. Assembly: Join shoulders. Crochet a row of sc round neckline with crochet hook size 3mm. Sew sleeve seams and set in sleeves and sew on zipper (buttons). |
