Can cascade yarn be used worsted weight and must this be doubled or single strand

Dear Greta, unfortunately we are not familiar with the indicated yarn. Please check the specifications of your yarn (yardage, thickness, recommended needle) and compare it to DROPS Vienna's characteristics. You can also try working a gauge with your yarn and, according to it, check the necessary number of threads and adjustments to the pattern for your yarn. Happy knitting!

Bon travail!

Kan man bruge andet garn? Så man ikke får det der floffy-udtryk. Kan nemlig vældig godt lidt selve modellen.

I think the model's legs are too skinny; and that's what's throwing off the eye, but I can imagine myself reading outside in these.

DROPS felted slippers in double thread “Vienna”.
DROPS 107-38 |

Slipper: Knitted in one piece and sewn tog mid front and mid back. Beg at the top of leg (see measurement chart). Loosely cast on 18-20-21 sts on needle size 10 mm with 1 thread of each colour and work stocking st. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 23-25-25 cm cast on sts for foot at one side on every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 4-4-6 times = 29-31-34 sts. Continue in stocking st. When piece measures 50-52-54 cm insert a MT = mid under foot. When piece measures 17-17-16 cm from MT dec towards the leg on every other row: 1 st 4-4-6 times, 2 sts 2 times and 3 sts 1 time = 18-20-21 sts. Cast off loosely when piece measures 100-104-108 cm. Assembly: Fold slipper double and sew tog mid back in the outermost loops of sts. Sew tog mid front in the same way. Felt slippers in the washing machine – see below. To ensure maximum fit, wear slippers when still damp in order to form them to your feet. Felting: Attach a small plastic bag inside the top of slippers with a safety pin in order that the top doesn’t felt together. Felt slippers in washing machine at 40 deg C with 1 tablespoon of powder without enzymes and optical bleach. No pre-wash, but spin as usual. If after felting the slippers are too big, felt them again. If they are too small, soak until wet through and through and shape into the right size. When felted, fold the leg approx 6 cm towards RS. For future washes use a wool programme. AFTER FELTING: If the piece is not felted enough and is too big: Wash the piece one more time in the washing machine while it is still wet add a terry towel that measures approx. 50 x 70 cm - NOTE: Do not use a short program. If the piece has been felted too much and is too small: While the piece is still wet stretch it to the correct measurements, if the piece is dry, make sure to soak it first. Remember: All subsequent washes are as a normal wool garment. |
