1st row (RS): 1 edge st in garter st, * K1, yo, slip 1 st as if to purl *, repeat *-* until 2 sts remains on needle, end with K1 and 1 edge st in garter st.
2nd row (WS): 1 edge st in garter st, * yo, slip 1 st as if to purl, knit following st and yo tog *, repeat *-* until 2 sts remains on needle, end with yo, slip 1 st as if to purl and 1 edge st in garter st.
3rd row (RS): 1 edge st in garter st, * knit following st and yo tog, yo, slip 1 st as if to purl *, repeat *-* until 2 sts remains on needle, end with knit following st and yo tog, 1 edge st in garter st.
Repeat 2nd-3rd row (From 2nd row stitches with yo are always K sts. Yo lies on top of the st and knits tog with st).
Sweater: Knit in 3 pieces. Front- and back piece knits separate. Then knit from end of one sleeve up and over shoulders - cast off for neck, cast on new sts and knit to the end of the other sleeve. Afterwards sew front- and back piece tog with shoulder piece.
Front piece: Cast on 73-81-89 sts (incl 1 edge st each side to seam) on needle size 4 mm.
Work English rib - see explanation above - with 1 edge st each side in garter st. Remember to check your knitting tension! When piece measures 40-41-42 cm knit 2 rows over all sts, and then cast off loosely.
Back piece: Cast on and knit as front piece.
Sleeve + Shoulder: Cast on 37-39-41 sts (incl 1 edge st each side) on needle size 4 mm.
Work English rib - see explanation above - with 1 edge st each side in garter st.
At the same time when piece measures 10 cm inc 1 st each side (within 1 edge st) on every 3,5-3-2,5 cm a total of 13-14-15 times = 63-67-71 sts - the inc sts works into the pattern. When piece measures 54-53-51 cm (= sleeve) cast on 8-9-10 new sts each side = 79-85-91 sts (these sts will stretch downwards when the sweater is on and will then get the measures on measure chart). Continue to measure from this point onwards! Work English rib with 1 edge sts in each side in garter stitch. When piece measures 12½-15-17 cm knit next row like this from RS: 39-42-45 sts = sholder back, cast off 1 st (= 1 K st), 39-42-45 sts = shoulders front.
Work back and forth on front and back pieces separate with 1 st in garter st towards neck.
Shoulders front: = 39-42-45 sts. Now cast off 1 st towards neck on every other row 8-8-8 times = 31-34-37 sts. Continue until neck opening measures 12½-12½-13 cm, now cast on 1 new st towards neck on every other row 9-9-9 times = 40-43-46 sts - the inc sts knits into the pattern. After all sts are inc neck opening should measure 17-17-18 cm, slip sts on a thread or stitch holder.
Shoulders back: = 39-42-45 sts. Continue until neck opening measures 17-17-18 cm.
Put all sts from front and back piece back on needle = 79-85-91 sts, continue until piece measures 42-47-52 cm. Now cast off 8-9-10 sts each side = 63-67-71 sts.
Continue to measure from this point onwards! When piece measures 2-4-6 cm dec 1 st each side within 1 edge st on every 3,5-3-2,5 cm 13-14-15 times = 37-39-41 sts. Cast off loosely when sleeve measures 54-53-51 cm.
Assembly: Sew front and back pieces towards shoulder piece within edge sts.
Sew sleeve- and side seams in one within 1 edge st.
Neckband: Pick up approx 80-86 sts around neckline on a short circular needle size 4 mm - pick up sts within 1 edge st so that there will be 1 K st before neck band on front and back. Work 8 rows in stocking sts, cast off. Fold edge double towards WS and sew on with small fine stitches.
