Clue #9 - We are almost there!

It’s time to work on the last big squares for our mystery blanket – are you ready?

We’ve seen the flower in the centre before, but this time it is framed by several rounds of beautiful treble crochet groups. And you have something to look forward to – because this clue is fun to crochet!

Colours

We are working the large square according to diagram A.3 in the following colours:

CAST ON + ROUND 1: 06 light jeans blue
ROUNDS 2-3: 05 light wash
ROUND 4: 01 white
ROUNDS 5-6: 06 light jeans blue
ROUND 7: 01 white
ROUNDS 8-9: 05 light wash
ROUND 10: 06 light jeans blue
ROUNDS 11-12: 01 white

Time to get started

CAST ON:
Work 4 chain stitches with light jeans blue, form them to a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch.

ROUND 1:
Work 1 chain stitch, * 2 chain stitches, 2 double crochets around the chain-stitch ring *, repeat *-* 3 times in total.

Work 2 chain stitches, 1 double crochet around the chain-stitch ring and finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch on the round.

ROUND 2:
Work 1 slip stitch around the first chain-space, at the same time as you change to light wash, cut the light jeans blue strand. Read COLOUR CHANGE TIP below:

COLOUR CHANGE TIP:
To get a neat transition when changing colour, work the last stitch before the colour change with the new colour.

Work 3 chain stitches (equivalent to the first treble crochet), 1 treble crochet around the first chain-space, 2 chain stitches (corner), 2 treble crochets around the same chain-space, 1 chain stitch.

Work * 2 treble crochets around the next chain-space, 2 chain stitches (corner), 2 treble crochets around the same chain-space, 1 chain stitch *, repeat *-* 3 times in total.

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round, do not change colour.

ROUND 3:
Work 1 slip stitch around the first chain-space.

Work 3 chain stitches (equivalent to the first treble crochet), 2 treble crochets around the first chain-space, 2 chain stitches (corner), 3 treble crochets around the same chain-space, 1 chain stitch.

Work * 3 treble crochets around the next chain-space, 2 chain stitches, (corner), 3 treble crochets around the same chain-space, 1 chain stitch *, repeat *-* 3 times in total.

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round, at the same time as you change to white. Cut the light wash strand.

ROUND 4:
Work 1 chain stitch - read CROCHET INFO below.

CROCHET INFO:
The round starts with 1 chain stitch before the first double crochet (this chain stitch does not replace the first double crochet).

Work * 1 double crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, 2 double crochets around the chain-space, 2 chain stitches (corner), 2 double crochets around the same chain-space, 1 double crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, 1 half treble crochet around the chain stitch from rounds 2 and 3 *, repeat *-* 4 times in total.

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch at the beginning of the round, at the same time as you change to light jeans blue. Cut the white strand.

ROUND 5:
Work 1 chain stitch.

Work * 1 double crochet in the first/next stitch, 2 chain stitches, skip 4 stitches, 2 treble crochets around the chain-space, 2 chain stitches (corner), 2 treble crochets around the same chain-space, 2 chain stitches, skip 4 stitches, 1 double crochets in the next stitch, 2 chain stitches, skip 1 stitch *, repeat *-* 4 times in total.

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet at the beginning of the round, do not change colour. Work 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch.

ROUND 6:
Work 1 chain stitch.

Work * 1 double crochet around the chain-space, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, 3 treble crochets around the chain-space, 2 chain stitches (corner), 3 treble crochets around the same chain-space, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, 1 double crochet around the next chain-space, 1 chain stitch, 3 treble crochets around the next chain-space, 1 chain stitch, 3 treble crochets around the same chain-space, 1 chain stitch *, repeat *-* 4 times in total.

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet at the beginning of the round, do not change colour.

ROUND 7:
Work 1 slip stitch in the first treble crochet on the round, at the same time as you change to white. Cut the light jeans blue strand.

Work 3 chain stitches (equivalent to the first treble crochet), 1 chain stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 stitches.

CORNER:
Work 2 treble crochets around the chain-space, 3 chain stitches, 2 treble crochets around the same chain-space.

Work * 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, 1 chain stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 treble crochet in the next stitch, ** 1 chain stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 treble crochet in/around the next stitch **, repeat **-** 6 times in total, 1 chain stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 stitches *. Work CORNER and repeat *-* 3 times in total, work CORNER.

Work 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, 1 chain stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 treble crochet in the next stitch, * 1 chain stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 treble crochet in/around the next stitch *, repeat *-* 5 times in total, 1 chain stitch.

Finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round, at the same time as you change to light wash. Cut the white strand.

ROUND 8:
Work 3 chain stitches (equivalent to the first treble crochet), 1 treble crochet around the next chain stitch, 1 treble crochet in the next stitch, 1 chain stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 stitches.

CORNER:
Work 2 treble crochets around the chain-space, 3 chain stitches, 2 treble crochets around the same chain-space.

Work * 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, 1 chain stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 treble crochet in/around each of the next 4 stitches, work «1 QUADRUPLE TREBLE CROCHET» as follows: make 4 yarn overs, insert the hook around the chain stitch in the treble crochet group from round 6 (see the diagram where the line leads), make 1 yarn over and pull it under the chain stitch (= 6 loops on the hook), ** 1 yarn over, pull the yarn over through the first 2/next loop on the hook **, repeat from **-** a total of 5 times = 1 loop on the hook. Continue with 1 treble crochet in/around each of the next 7 stitches, 1 QUADRUPLE TREBLE CROCHET around the same chain stitch in the treble crochet group from round 6 (see the diagram where the line leads), 1 treble crochet in/around each of the next 4 stitches, 1 chain stitch, skip 1 stitch, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 3 stitches.
