27.02.2019 kl. 23:31:DROPS Design answered:
Dag Marya,

Dear Kay, I would look for a crochet cardigan, maybe a circle one, that have the sleeves crocheted from the body to the cuff, like the 177/10 or 168/12 (that has lacy sleeves) or, the 165/40, (that has more solid sleeves), and crochet the sleeves according to those instructions. I hope this helped. Happy Crocheting!

It has been mentioned how to determines size using a diagram near at the end of the pattern. Is it determined by laying garment flat and measuring the back? Or is it from front lapel around to the opposite front lapel? If the latter is true, then why is that considered as size XXXL? That is closer to an XL or XXL in US sizes. It would be helpful if you could clarify which way to measure the garment: either flat across the back, or flat from lapel to lapel. Thank you.
27.06.2016 kl. 14:51:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Suzie, the measurements at the bottom of back piece apply to width on back piece only (without edge), ie 44 cm in larger size at the bottom of back piece and 46 cm at the top of back piece after inc. Click here to convert into inches. Compare to a similar garment you have and like the shape to find out the matching size. Read more about sizing on same link as before. Happy crocheting!

Dear Mrs Lueders, back piece is worked back and forth from bottom up. After you have made the fundation chain (78-99, see size), work first row without joining with a sl st, just work back and forth in rows. Happy crocheting!

In the first round of the edging, it says ch 56 on each side. Why chain so many when in the next round I’m only supposed to do 42 dc over those 56 chains. Either I will have ugly gaps between each dc which also makes the armholes very bubbly, or a 7 cm chain left after the 42 dc. How can I fix this?
16.04.2016 kl. 12:53:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sara, when crocheting a chain most of the time chains are more tight than your sts will be on next row, to avoid that the first row to be too tight on armholes, you work more chains (56) but will then crochet only 42 dc on 1st row skipping ch evenly. That way, your armholes won't be too tight. If your chains are loose enough, you can then crochet the correct number of sts, or then work more and add a small crochet edge to finish armholes. Happy crocheting!

I also wondered if there is a better explanation of M.1 ? Thank you for all your help.
22.09.2015 kl. 09:47:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Cris, the increase should be done when working a sc row, so when your piece measures 5, 10 and then 15 cm again (3 rounds with inc) - make sure you have to crochet either row 2 or 3 (= sc-row), inc evenly 34 sc. See here how to inc evenly. M.1 is the name of the diagram for the edge - see above measurement chart. Happy crocheting!

18.09.2015 kl. 19:49:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Chris, at the end of row you should skip 1 ch (as stated under from *-*) and finish with 1 dc in the last 2 ch. remember to check and keep the correct tension, ie 17 dc x 10 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4'' x 4''. Happy crocheting!

19.04.2015 kl. 15:00:DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Šimíčková, when working chains, the chains are often tighter than the sts in width, so that you will crochet more chains for armhole than you will make dc on 1st row (as for fundation ch at the bottom of back piece). If your chains are a bit looser, you can work a finishing edging around armholes afterwards or adjust your number of ch for armhole. Happy crocheting!

1. the number of ch you make includes the ch to turn with, as you can see it say to turn and crochet in the 4th ch from hook, so 3 ch are included already. 2. Inc 1 dc each side of work by working 2 dc in first and last dc on row. Repeat at 15 cm/ 6". 3. For turning your rows - replace first dc on each row with 3 ch.

1. line 2 in M.1 is little confusing. after how many dc's are the chains? 2.the 3rd line of the diagram shows a measure of 3 dc, 3 chain, 6tr, 3dc and then 3ch...so is this how we continue throughout?
19.03.2012 kl. 17:15:DROPS Design answered:
1. 6 dc (US sc) and then ch 4. 2. UK version: 3 dc, ch1, 1tr, 1ch, 1tr, 1ch, 1tr, 1ch, 1tr, 1ch, 1tr, 1ch,1 tr, ch1, 3 dc, ch3 - repeat! Chart is giving you 1 repetition of the pattern.

What is tr? Is it treble crochet? M.1 says I = tr so, is it treble crochet and 1 chain in the diagram?

Soumya, make sure you are on the US pattern if you are a US crocheter, and the UK pattern if you are a UK crocheter. Symbols are different. tr (treble) in chart is in the UK pattern, are you a UK crocheter?

I am confused with "Now crochet 1 dc in each dc from back piece and around each ch band crochet 42-44-46-48 dc = 204-220-236-248 dc in total." What is the 42?? Without 42 its 232 total dc's. Need Help!! Soumya
10.03.2012 kl. 04:28:DROPS Design answered:
Smallest size, as an example: you have 58 dc at bottom of back piece and 62 dc at the top. You have a chain band each side. When starting edge piece, crochet 62 dc along the top, 42 dc around first ch-band, 58 dc along bottom, and 42 dc around next ch-band. 62+42+58+42 = 204 dc in total.

Thanks. Now I'm confused about the chart. Is it just repeated all the way across? Rows 4 and 5 just sort of stop, in the chart. I assume the stitches still keep going though?
01.03.2012 kl. 23:18:DROPS Design answered:
The chart shows one repeat of the pattern. So for pattern keep repeating the repeat over and over.

What is the second diagram for?
01.03.2012 kl. 02:02:DROPS Design answered:
There is one measure chart and one crochet chart for the edge. Pattern tells when to work the final edge.

On the first row of dc, should I be adding a ch1 where it says to skip?
22.02.2012 kl. 17:42:DROPS Design answered:
No you should not add a ch. The reason why you decrease on first row by skipping ch, is to make the starting row elastic.

1. you cast on 78 and dec on 1st row to 58 so the edge should not become too tight, which happens easily. 2. work 58dc from back piece, 42dc around the chain of 56 ch, then 62dc along the other side of back piece, then 42dc around the chain of 56 ch. Ie 58+42+62+42 = 204 dc.
25.02.2010 kl. 22:11:Jessica wrote:
1.Why is the pattern written to start with 78 ch when you immedietely reduce that number to 58? 2.Instructions on the Edge Piece are written "Now crochet 1 dc in each dc from back piece and in each ch chain crochet 42-44-46-48 dc = 204-220-236-248 dc in total." I'm not sure where the number 42 comes in? or how a total number of 204 is reached. If I were to ignore this instuction and simply dc in each dc and ch around I would end up with 232 dc including a chain 3 to begin my row.

Mvg ilse
