Hi - the patterns says "On the next round increase 1 stitch before each marker..." Is this "next round" round 2, after the ribbing? The first round being the increase/decrease to 91-98-105? Is this "next round" also considered round 1 of the four-round repeat? And finally, for round 1, does it matter where you do the increase/decrease? I am doing a size M so it would be an increase of 2. Thanks!!

DROPS Design answered:

Hi Leanne, You knit 1 round after the ribbing and adjust the stitch count on this round. As long as you space out the increases/decreases evenly, it doesn't matter where you work them. Then continue with stocking stitch, inserting the markers on the next round (round 2 after the ribbing) and beginning to increase on round 3 after the ribbing. Then knit 3 rounds and increase again on the 4th round, knit 3 rounds and increase on the 4th round a total of 4 times. Hope this helps and happy knitting!

Making small DROPS 225-6...After increase stitches reach 119 the pattern says to knit until pattern measures 4 3/4. Are we supposed to increase every 4 rounds or just continue stockinette stitch without increases to reach 4 3/4inches? Can't find tutorial videos for this beret, Sidewalk Artist.

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Cynthia, simply work in stocking stitch, without any more increases (once the piece has 119 stitches) until you reach the desired measurements. Happy knitting!

Just finished a cardigan in Alaska. It is Drops C and so is Air, about which I sent a question. If both yarns are C and use the same needles, what can explain my tension test being perfect for Alaska and wrong for Air? The link you sent says: "The knitting tension also determines which yarns can replace each other. As long as you achieve the same knitting tension you can replace one yarn with another." Not here - and that is my concern and question I would love to have an answer for. Thanks

22.05.2024 kl. 17:26:

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Mrs McDade, yarns from same yarn group can be used as alternative but since they have different content texture might change; most important to keep a project getting the correct measurements is to get the right tension, so you need here to get 18 sts = 10 cm, as Air is different from Alaska. you might need another needle size which is not a problem as long as you get the correct number of stitches for 10 cm, otherwise you would have to recalculate to your own tension. As examples, you can find other patterns with Air and 18 sts for 10 cm here. Happy knitting!

As you can see from my original question, I understand tension and the role it plays in getting the correct measurements - that is why i do it every time and, as I said, have NEVER had any problem!! Please see the last sentence of my question - that's what I would like answered. Thank you

In all my years of knitting I always check tension & it has always been perfect! With this pattern the tension test produced a 8x8 cm square on 4.5 mm needles. 5.5 mm needles seem to be right tension. Has anyone else found similar? Just worried I might be missing something, or if pattern has error, because have NEVER had this problem before. Thanks & regards

22.05.2024 kl. 15:02:

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Mrs McDade, to get the correct finished measurements, you need to get correct tension, so you might try again with larger needle to get the 18 sts = 10 cm - read more about tension here. Happy knitting!

Guten Abend!

Bon tricot!

Hi! "Knit 1 round where the number of stitches is adjusted to 91-98-105 stitches." Does this means I decrease the sts using the decrease tip (k2tog)? Thanks before!

15.01.2022 kl. 08:12:

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Anna, yes, depending on the size you increase or decrease to adjust to the total amount of stitches. In the case you decrease, you k2tog. Happy knitting!

Hello, I'd like to make Sidewalk Artist with Drops Alpaca. How could I replace Drops Air by Drops Alpaca? With double Alpaca?

05.09.2021 kl. 14:20:

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Misia, yes, you should be able to replace DROPS Air with 2 strands of DROPS Alpaca, however, before starting to work you need to check that the gauge is the correct one. Also, you need to take into account that double strand DROPS Alpaca is heavier/ less airy than DROPS Air.
