KNITTING GAUGE:
23 stitches in width and 32 rows vertically in stockinette stitch = 10 x 10 cm = 4” x 4”. NOTE! Rib will contract the piece in width.

NEEDLES:
DROPS DOUBLE POINTED NEEDLES SIZE 3 mm = US 2,5
DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE SIZE 3 mm = US 2,5: Length 40 cm = 16” for rib.
Needle size is only a suggestion! If you have too many stitches on 10 cm = 4” switch to larger needles. If you have too few stitches on 10 cm = 4” switch to smaller needles.

EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

STRIPES:
6 -6½ cm = 2 3/8”-2 1/2” rib with color 19, brick
6 -6½ cm = 2 3/8”-2 1/2” rib with color 18, dusty pink
6 -6½ cm = 2 3/8”-2 1/2” rib with color 11, hazelnut
6 -6½ cm = 2 3/8”-2 1/2” rib with color 17, curry

START THE PIECE HERE:

HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Worked in the round on circular needle, bottom up. Switch to double pointed needles when needed.

HAT:
Cast on 124-128 stitches on a short circular needle size 3 mm = US 2,5 with color 19, brick. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) in STRIPES - read explanation above.
AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 20-22 cm =8”-8 3/4” from cast-on edge, begin decreases, i.e. work and decrease as follows:
ROUND 1: Decrease all 2 purl to 1 purl (purl 2 together) = 93-96 stitches.
ROUNDS 2-3: Knit over knit and purl over purl.
ROUND 4: Decrease all 2 knit to 1 knit (knit 2 together) = 62-64 stitches.
ROUNDS 5-6: Knit over knit and purl over purl.
ROUND 7: Knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 31-32 stitches.
ROUNDS 8-9: Knit all stitches.
ROUND 10: Knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 16-16 stitches.
ROUND 11: Knit all stitches.
ROUND 12: Knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 8-8 stitches.
Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten.
Piece measures approx. 24-26 cm = 9 1/2”-10 1/4” from top and down.
