EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

-------------------------------------------------------

CHAIN STITCH:
If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 double crochet is wide.

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.4.
Diagrams A.1 and A.3 show how the rounds start and finish.

COLOUR CHANGE:
When changing colour work as follows: Work the last treble crochet with the first colour, but wait with the last pull-through, change to the next colour and work the last pull-through with the new colour, then work the next treble crochet.
When working with 2 colours lay the strand of the colour not being used over the stitches from the previous round and work around the strand so that it is hidden and carried forward.

SITTING MAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked in the round, from the middle outwards.

SITTING MAT:
Work 4 CHAIN STITCHES – read description above, with hook size 9 mm and dark rose and form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Work pattern in the round as follows: Work A.1 (shows how the rounds start and finish), work A.2 a total of 12 times on the round – read COLOUR CHANGE and REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
When A.1 and A.2 have been completed there are 168 treble crochets on the round. Work the next round as follows: Work A.3 (shows how the rounds start and finish), then A.4 to end of round (= 56 repeats of 3 treble crochets). Cut and fasten the strands. The piece measures approx. 65 cm in diameter.

FELTING:
Place the mat in the washing machine together with a towel and use a detergent without enzymes or optical bleaches. Wash at 40 degrees with a normal centrifuge but without pre-wash. After washing shape the mat while still wet. Later wash as a normal wool garment.
