Materials: Either Cotton Chenille or Tynn Chenille can be used. The garment in the photograph is knit in Cotton Chenille. All numbers for Tynn Chenille are given in ( ); all measurements are the same for both yarn types.

450 (500-550) g color no. 08, taupe

DROPS 3.5 mm [US 4] and 4 mm [US 6] needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge. Short 3.5 mm [US 4] circular needles for the neck, or size needed to obtain correct gauge..

Gauge: 14 sts x 26 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]

Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. Pattern: See chart (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side.

Bobble: Increase to 4 sts in 1 st by knitting alternately into the front and back of the st. Knit 4 rows of stockinette st back and forth over these 4 sts. After the 4th row pass the 3rd, 2nd and 1st sts over the 4th st.

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.
Garter st, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl.* Repeat from * - *.

Front: Cast on 72-78-84 (102-110-120) sts (including 1 edge st at each side which is knit in garter st throughout) on smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and establish the pattern on the next row as follows (right side row): K 1 (edge st), 1-4-7 (16-20-25) sts reverse stockinette st, Pattern 1, 1-4-7 (16-20-25) sts reverse stockinette st, K 1 (edge st).
When the work measures 24-25-25 cm [9.5" - 9-7/8" - 9-7/8"] bind off for armholes at each side every other row: 3 sts 0-1-1 (0-1-1) time, 2 sts 1-1-1 (1-1-2) times, 1 st 1-1-2 (2-3-3) times = 66-66-70 (94-94-100) sts. When the work measures 38 cm [14-7/8"] bind off the center 12-12-12 (18-18-18) sts for the neck. Bind off at each neck edge every other row: 3 sts 1-1-1 (1-1-1) time, 2 sts 1-1-1 (2-2-2) times, 1 st 1-1-1 (1-1-1) time. Bind off when the work measures 46-47-48 cm [18-1/8" - 18.5" - 18-7/8"].

Back: Cast on and knit as for the front, but bind off the center 20-20-20 (30-30-30) sts for the neck when the work measures 44-45-46 cm [17.25" - 17.75" - 18-1/8"]. Bind off 2 sts at each neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 46-47-48 cm [18-1/8" - 18.5" - 18-7/8"].

Sleeves: Cast on 36-38-38 (50-54-54) sts (including 1 edge st at each side knit in garter st throughout) on smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and establish pattern on the next row as follows (right side row): K 1 (edge st), 4-5-5 (11-13-13) sts reverse stockinette st, Pattern 2, 4-5-5 (11-13-13) sts reverse stockinette st, K 1 (edge st). When the work measures 6 cm [2-3/8"], inc 1 st at each side 12-11-12 (17-15-17) times every 8-9-8 (7-8-7) rows = 60-60-62 (84-84-88) sts. Work the increased sts in reverse stockinette as you go along. When the work measures 48-47-46 cm [18-7/8" - 18.5" - 18-1/8"] bind off for sleeve caps at each side every other row:
Size S: 3 sts 7 times (4 sts 8 times)
Size M: 2 sts 10 times (3 sts 11 times)
Size L: 2 sts 11 times (2 sts 13 times), bind off. The work measures approx. 53-54-54 cm [20-7/8" - 21.25" - 21.25"].

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 65-70 (90-100) sts around the neck on smaller circular needles; join and knit 4 rows garter st. Bind off loosely.
Crochet a border around the neck beginning at the center back as follows: 1 single crochet (sc), * ch 3, 1 double crochet (dc) in the 1st ch, skip 2 ch, 1 sc *, repeat * - *.
Sew side seams and sleeve seams. Sew on the sleeves.
