EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:

----------------------------------------------------------

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.4.

CROCHET INFO:
Begin every half treble crochet row with 2 chain stitches (does NOT replace first half treble crochet).

----------------------------------------------------------

START THE PIECE HERE:

----------------------------------------------------------

HEAD BAND - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Piece is worked back and forth in an angle.

HEAD BAND:
Work 26-32 chain stitches (including 2 chain stitches to turn with) on hook size 4 mm with Cotton Merino.
Work 1 half treble crochet in 3rd chain stitch from hook (= 1 half treble crochet) – read CROCHET INFO below, work 1 half treble crochet in each of the next 11-14 stitches, work 3 chain stitches, work 1 half treble crochet in each of the next 12-15 chain stitches = 24-30 half treble crochets.
Work A.1 over the first 5 half treble crochets, A.2 over the next 6-9 half treble crochets, A.3 over the next half treble crochet + chain space + half treble crochet, A.2 over the next 6-9 half treble crochets and finish with A.4 over the last 5 half treble crochets.
Continue pattern like this. Decrease 1 stitch on every row in A.1 and A.4 and increase 1 stitch on each side of chain space in A.3 (= 2 stitches increased on every row in A.3), i.e. number of stitches remains the same.
REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
When piece measures approx. 49-51 cm at the longest, fasten off. Sew together head band in outer loops of edge stitches in each side.

Diagram

= half treble crochet in stitch
= work 2 half treble crochets together as follows: * Make 1 yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, get yarn *, repeat from *-* one more time, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through all 5 loops on hook (= 1 half treble crochet decreased).
= half treble crochet in back loop of stitch from right side
= work 2 half treble crochet together in back loop of stitch
= half treble crochet around chain space
= 3 chain stitches
= first row has already been worked, it only shows how next row should be worked in/around stitches
