INFORMATION FOR THE PATTERN:

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
1 ridge = Knit 2 rows.

INCREASE TIP-1 (evenly spaced):
To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 86 stitches), minus the bands (e.g. 10 stitches) and divide the remaining stitches by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 24) = 3.2.
In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. every 3rd stitch. On the next row work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes.

RAGLAN:
Increase to raglan on each side of the 4 marker threads in the transitions between body and sleeves. All increases are made from the right side!
Start 1 stitch before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 stitches (the marker thread sits in the middle of these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On the next row (wrong side) purl the yarn overs to leave holes. You increase a total of 8 stitches on each increase-row.

STRIPES BODY:
When the piece measures 2 cm / 3/4'' after the division for the armholes (in all sizes), change to heather. Work heather for 22 cm and then work purple haze to finished length.

INCREASE TIP-2 (for sides of body):
All increases are made from the right side. Start 1 stitch before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, work 2 stitches in stockinette stitch (the marker thread sits in the middle of these 2 stitches), make 1 yarn over. On the next row (wrong side) purl the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes.
The next time you increase, work as follows: Start 2 stitches before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 4 (the marker thread sits in the middle of these 4 stitches), make 1 yarn over. On the next row (the wrong side) purl the yarn overs twisted.
Continue to increase like this, i.e. start 1 stitch earlier each time you increase.

STRIPES SLEEVE:
When the piece measures 5-5-5-6-6-6 cm / 2''-2''-2''-2 3/8''-2 3/8''-2 3/8'' from the division for the armhole change to heather. Work heather for 22 cm, then work purple haze to finished length.

DECREASE TIP (for mid under sleeve):
Start 3 stitches before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (the marker thread sits in the middle of these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (= 2 stitches decreased).

BUTTONHOLES:
Work buttonholes on the right band (when the garment is worn). Work from the right side when there are 3 stitches left on the row as follows: Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together and knit the last stitch. On the next row (wrong side) knit the yarn over to leave a hole.
The first buttonhole is worked when the rib in the neck measures approx. 1½-2 cm/½"-3/4". Then work the other 6-6-6-7-7-7 buttonholes with approx. 9½-9½-10-8½-9-9/3 3/4"-3 3/4"-4"-3 1/4"-3½"-3½" cm between each.
----------------------------------------------------------

JACKET:
The yoke and body are worked back and forth with circular needle from mid front, top down. The sleeves are worked in the round with short circular needle/double pointed needles, top down.

YOKE:
Cast on 86-90-94-98-102-106 stitches (including 5 band stitches in each side towards mid front) with circular needle size 5 mm / US 8 and wheat. Work 2 RIDGES – see description above. Change to circular needle SIZE 5.5 mm/US 9. Knit 1 row from the right side where you increase 24-28-28-32-36-40 stitches evenly on row – read INCREASE TIP-1 and work BUTTONHOLES on the right band – see description above = 110-118-122-130-138-146 stitches.
Purl 1 row from the wrong side, but the yarn overs are purled twisted to avoid holes and the 5 outermost stitches in each side are knitted.
Insert 4 marker threads in the piece as follows (without working the stitches): The first marker thread is inserted after the first 24-26-27-28-30-32 stitches (= front piece), 2nd marker thread after the next 12-12-12-14-14-14 stitches (= sleeve), 3rd marker thread after the next 38-42-44-46-50-54 stitches (= back piece) and 4th marker thread after the next 12-12-12-14-14-14 stitches (= sleeve). There are 24-26-27-28-30-32 stitches left on the row after the last marker thread (= front piece).
On the next row from the right side increase to RAGLAN – see description above (= 8 stitches increased). Increase like this every 2nd row (i.e. every row from the right side) a total of 16-18-20-22-23-24 times. REMEMBER THE GAUGE!
After the last increases to raglan there are 238-262-282-306-322-338 stitches on the needle. Continue working until the piece measures 19-21-23-24-26-28 cm / 7 3/8"-8 ¼"-9"-9 3/8"-10 ¼"-11" from the cast-on edge mid front. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: Knit 40-43-46-50-54-57 stitches (= front piece), place the next 44-50-54-58-58-60 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 new stitches on the needle (= in side under the sleeve), knit 70-76-82-90-98-104 stitches (= back piece), place the next 44-50-54-58-58-60 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 new stitches on the needle (= in side under the sleeve) and knit the remaining 40-43-46-50-54-57 stitches (= front piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE!

BODY:
= 162-174-190-206-226-242 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread 43-46-50-54-59-63 stitches in from each side = 76-82-90-98-108-116 stitches between marker threads on the back piece. Read STRIPES BODY and continue back and forth with stockinette stitch and 5 band stitches in garter stitch in each side towards mid front.
AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 3 cm / 1'' from the division in all sizes, increase 1 stitch on each side of both marker threads – read INCREASE TIP-2 (= 4 stitches increased). Increase like this every 6-6-7-7-7-7 cm / 2 3/8"-2 3/8"-2 ¾"-2 ¾"-2 ¾"-2 ¾" a total of 7-7-6-6-6-6 times in each side = 190-202-214-230-250-266 stitches.
When the piece measures 43 cm from the division in all sizes, work 2 ridges back and forth over all stitches. Bind off with knit, but make sure that the bind-off edge is not tight. The jacket measures approx. 66-68-70-72-74-76 cm / 26''-26¾''-27½''-28 3/8''-29 1/8''-30'' from the shoulder down.

SLEEVE:
Place the 44-50-54-58-58-60 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle or double pointed needles SIZE 5.5 mm/US 9 / US 9. In addition, knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 50-56-62-66-68-72 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches and allow the marker thread to follow your work onwards. Read STRIPES SLEEVE and work stockinette stitch in the round.
AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 3-2-2-3-3-2 cm / 1 1/8"-¾"-¾"-1 1/8"-1 1/8"-¾" from the division, decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread – read DECREASE TIP (= 2 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 4½-3½-2½-2-2-2 cm/1 3/4"-1 1/4"-7/8"-3/4"-3/4"-3/4" a total of 8-10-13-14-14-15 times = 34-36-36-38-40-42 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 37-36-34-34-33-31 cm / 14 ½"-14 1/8"-13 3/8"-13 3/8"-13"-12 1/8" (shorter measurements in larger sizes due to wider neck and longer yoke). Knit 1 round where you increase 6-4-4-6-4-6 stitches evenly on round = 40-40-40-44-44-48 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 5 mm / US 8. Work rib in the round (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 3 cm / 1''. Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl, but to avoid the bind-off edge being tight, you can make 1 yarn over after every 8th stitch at the same time as binding off (the yarn overs are bind off as normal stitches). The sleeve measures approx. 40-39-37-37-36-34 cm / 15 ¾"-15 ¼"-14 ½"-14 ½"-14 1/8"-13 3/8" from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew buttons onto the left band.
