SEATING PAD:
Work in the round.
When piece is worked in the round, start with magic circle to avoid hole in the middle (instead of chain stitch ring) use 1 strand off white: Hold the yarn end and wind the yarn one time around the index finger to make a loop. Hold the loop with left thumb and middle finger, place the yarn over left index finger. Insert hook through the loop, make a yarn over and pull yarn through loop, work 1 chain stitch, then work around the loop as follows:

ROUND 1:
Work with off white * 3 chain stitches (= 1 treble crochet), 1 treble crochet. Insert 1 stitch marker in loop on last treble crochet so that it does not unravel and place yarn aside *.
Switch to 1 strand light beige and work 1 double crochet around the loop, then work from *-* around the loop.
Switch to 1 strand taupe and work 1 double crochet around the loop, then work from *-* around the loop.
Switch to 1 strand light beige and work 1 double crochet around the loop, then work from *-* around the loop = 8 treble crochets.
Pull the yarn end to tighten loop. Fasten the yarn end on the back side.

ROUND 2:
Continue with light beige as follows:
Work * 2 treble crochets in each of the next 2 treble crochets, insert 1 stitch marker in loop on last treble crochet so that it does not unravel and place yarn aside *.
Continue with off white and work from *-*.
Continue with light beige and work from *-*.
Continue with taupe and work from *-* = 16 treble crochets. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!

ROUND 3:
Continue with taupe as follows:
Work * 1 treble crochet in next treble crochet and 2 treble crochets in next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in next treble crochet and 2 treble crochets in next treble crochet, insert 1 stitch marker in loop on last treble crochet so that it does not unravel and place yarn aside *.
Continue with light beige and work from *-*.
Continue with off white and work from *-*.
Continue with light beige and work from *-* = 24 treble crochets.

ROUND 4:
Continue with light beige as follows:
Work * 1 treble crochet in each of the next 2 treble crochets and 2 treble crochets in next treble crochet, work 1 treble crochet in each of the next 2 treble crochets and 2 treble crochets in next treble crochet, insert 1 stitch marker in loop on last treble crochet so that it does not unravel and place yarn aside *.
Continue with taupe and work from *-*.
Continue with light beige and work from *-*.
Continue with off white and work from *-* = 32 treble crochets.

Continue the same way, work 1 treble crochet more between every increase and switch colour as before. Increase 8 treble crochets on every round. Continue until piece measures approx. 50 cm in diameter.

FELTING:
Place the seating pad in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash at 40 degrees with normal spin but no pre-wash. After wash shape the seating pad to the right size while still wet and leave to dry flat. At subsequent wash, wash the seating pad at regular wool programme.
