PATTERN:
Hat: See diagram A.1.
Neck warmer: See diagram A.2.

CROCHET INFO (for hat):
At the beginning of each round with half double crochets, replace the first half double crochet with 2 chain stitches, the round finishes with 1 slip stitch in 2nd chain stitch.
At the beginning of every round with single crochets, replace the first single crochet with 1 chain stitch, the round finishes with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch

RELIEF HALF DOUBLE CROCHET (for hat):
Work 1 half double crochet around 1 half double crochet from previous round (i.e. you do not work in the loops but around the half double crochet) as follows: 1 yarn over (the usual way for 1 half double crochet), insert the hook between the one which is worked and the one to be worked around and up between the one to be worked around and the next half double crochet (i.e. between 2 half double crochets and around the half double crochet), pick up the strand, work the rest of the half double crochet as usual.
----------------------------------------------------------

HAT:
The hat is worked in the round.
Work 79-86-91 chain stitches with hook size 4.5 mm/US 7 and Air and form them to a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Work 2 chain stitches – READ CROCHET INFO, work 1 half double crochet in each of the first 2-2-0 chain stitches, * work 1 half double crochet in each of the next 6 chain stitches, skip 1 chain stitch *, repeat from *-* to end of round, finish with 1 slip stitch in the 2nd chain stitch at beginning of round = 68-74-78 half double crochets. Then work as follows: Work * 1 half double crochet, 1 RELIEF HALF DOUBLE CROCHET – see description above *, repeat from *-* to end of round. Continue in this way, make sure that the relief half double crochets are above each other in height. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! When piece measures 8-8-9 cm / X'' work the next round as follows: Work 1 single crochet in each half double crochet AT THE SAME TIME as you increase 7-7-6 single crochets evenly on round = 75-81-84 single crochets. Then work pattern according to diagram A.1b a total of 25-27-28 times on the round - diagram A.1 a shows how the rounds start and end and is worked in addition to A.1b. When A.1 has been completed in height, repeat the last 2 rounds upwards. Continue in this way until the piece measures approx. 23-25-27 cm / 9"-9 3/4"-10½'' - adjust so the last round is one with double crochets. Fold the hat double and crochet together at the top through both layers as follows: Work 1 single crochet in each double crochet. Cut and fasten the strand.

----------------------------------------------------------

NECK WARMER:
The neck warmer is worked in the round.
Work 126 chain stitches with hook size 4.5 mm/US 7 and Air and form them to a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Work pattern according to diagram A.2b a total of 18 times on the round - diagram A.2a shows how the rounds start and finish and is worked in addition to A.2b. When A.2 has been completed in height, repeat the last 2 rounds upwards. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! Continue in this way until the piece measures approx. 35 cm / 13 3/4'', finish with a round of double crochets. Cut and fasten the strand.
