Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in British English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from cm to inches - click here. PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Work all sts in stocking st.

DECREASE TIP:
Dec 1 st by K 2 sts tog.

LEFT MITTEN:
Worked in the round on double pointed needles.
Cast on 60 sts on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm with red and K 1 round. Now work 12 rounds rib (= K 1/P 1). Work 1 round in stocking st while dec 8 sts evenly - READ DECREASE TIP = 52 sts. Work diagram A.1 (= 52 sts). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When it has been worked up to the 3 black squares in the diagram, work A.2 (= thumb) over these 3 sts, continue remaining sts according to A.1. When A.2 has been worked to and with 13th round (see arrow in diagram) and inc have been done 5 times, slip the 13 thumb sts on 1 stitch holder. Cast on 3 new sts behind sts on stitch holder = 52 sts. Work pattern according to A.1. After all dec are done there are 12 sts on needle. Cut the yarns and pull them through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Piece measures approx. 26 cm.

THUMB: 
Slip the 13 thumb sts back on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Pick up 9 sts behind the thumb = 22 sts. Continue in the round according to A.2. After all dec are done there are 8 sts on needle. Cut the yarns and pull them through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten.

RIGHT MITTEN: 
Cast on and work as left mitten but reversed. I.e. work the first 23 sts in A.1 as shown in A.3 so that thumb is in the opposite side.
