GARTER ST (back and forth):
K all rows. 1 ridge = K2 rows.

KNITTING TIP:
When casting on and working on thick needles, it is important that the sts are worked onto the largest part of the needle to get the correct knitting gauge.

TIP FOR CHANGING YARN:
When changing ball with Polaris, divide the old strand in two the last 15 cm / 6'' – cut one part off, do the same on the new thread. Place the first and last 15 cm / 6'' over each other to get normal thickness of yarn and continue working - do this to avoid visible yarn change.
----------------------------------------------------------

HAT:
Worked back and forth on needle. READ KNITTING TIP AND TIP FOR CHANGING YARN.
Cast on 39-41 sts on needle size 12 mm / US 17 with Polaris (let the yarn end be approx. 50 cm / 19 3/4'' for sewing the hat tog when finished).
Work 3 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Then continue in stockinette st with 1 edge st in garter st - see explanation above - in each side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE When piece measures 18 cm / 7'' - adjust so that next row is from RS, insert 5 marker in the piece without working as follows: Insert a marker after 1 edge st, then insert 4 more markers, 8 sts apart = 6-8 sts remain on needle after last marker. On next row, dec 1 st after every marker by K 2 tog. Dec like this on every row from RS 4 times in total = 19-21 sts. On next row from RS work as follows: K 2 and 2 tog until 1 st remains, K 1 = 10-11 sts remain. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Hat measures approx. 27 cm / 10½''. Sew hat tog, sew in outer loops of edge sts to avoid a chunky seam. Fasten off.

NECK WARMER:
Worked back and forth on needle. READ KNITTING TIP AND TIP FOR CHANGING YARN.
Cast on 15 sts (includes 1 edge st in garter st in each side) on needle size 12 mm / US 17 with Polaris. Then work 1 ridge in GARTER ST – see explanation above, then work in stockinette st with 1 st in garter st in each side. When piece measures 19 cm / 7½'', insert a marker at the end of next row from RS (marker indicates where end of neck warmer should be assembled). REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE Continue until piece measures 76 cm / 30'', adjust to finish after 1 row from RS. Work 1 ridge over all sts and bind off. Make sure that the bind-off edge is not too tight.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew bind-off edge along side on piece from where marker was inserted and down to cast-on edge. Sew one and one st in outer loops of edge sts. Fasten off.
