Tips & Help

Thank you for choosing DROPS Design!

We do our best to make our patterns easy to follow.

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in American and British English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in British English, please click here.
PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.4. NOTE! There is pattern on every row in diagram.

DECREASE TIP:
* Beg 2 sts before A.2 with marker in and work as follows: K 2 tog, A.2 (= 10 sts), slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso = 2 sts dec *, repeat from *-* every time A.2 with marker is worked 4 times in total on round = 8 sts dec on round.
Repeat the same dec every 2 cm / 3/4'' 12-9-9-9 times in total, every 1½ cm / ½'' 10-10-12-13 times in total, and then every cm / 3/8" 6-11-9-7 times in total (= 224-240-240-232 sts dec in total) = 192-208-224-264 sts remain on needle (i.e. without counting the 8 sts dec in every diagram A.4).
----------------------------------------------------------

PONCHO:
Worked in the round from bottom up.
Cast on 416-448-464-496 sts on 1 circular needle size 4 mm / US 6 and 1 circular needle size 4.5 mm / US 7 with Muskat. Pull out the 4 mm needle and on needle size 4.5 mm / US 7 P 1 round, K 1 round and P 1 round. Then switch to circular needle size 4 mm / US 6 and work as follows: * A.1 (= 4 sts), 28-32-34-29 sts in stockinette st, A.2 (= 10 sts), 56-64-68-60 sts in stockinette st, A.2, 28-32-34-29 sts in stockinette st, A.1, A.3 (= 34 sts) 2-2-2-3 times in total *, repeat from *-* 1 more time.
Continue the same way until piece measures 10-10-14-14 cm / 4"-4"-5½"-5½". REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Now insert 4 markers in the piece as follows: * A.1 (= 4 sts), 28-32-34-29 sts in stockinette st, A.2, insert a marker in the middle of A.2, 56-64-68-60 sts in stockinette st, A.2, insert a marker in the middle of A.2, 28-32-34-29 sts in stockinette st, A.1, A.3 (= 34 sts) 2-2-2-3 times in total *, repeat from *-* 1 more time = 4 markers in piece.
Continue with pattern and stockinette st as before, AT THE SAME TIME dec on each side of A.2 with marker in – READ DECREASE TIP! When piece measures 44-44-52-52 cm / 17 1/4"-17 1/4"-20½"-20½" and A.3 has been worked 5-5-6-6 times vertically, work according to diagram A.4 instead of A.3. Continue with pattern and dec until A.4 has been worked 1 time vertically = 160-176-192-216 sts remain on needle. Then work in stockinette st over all sts on round. When 2 cm / 3/4'' in stockinette st have been worked after A.4 is done, dec 13-21-28-30 sts evenly on next round = 147-155-164-186 sts remain. Finish with P 1 round, K 1 round and P 1 round. Loosely bind off.
