CROCHET INFO:

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1, A.2 and A.3.

REVERSE CROCHET:
Work as sc but backwards. I.e. crochet around from left to right
----------------------------------------------------------

BAG:
The piece is worked in the round from bottom up. Work 4 ch on hook size 4.5 mm/ US 7 with light beige and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: READ CROCHET INFO! Work 11 dc in ch-ring.
ROUND 2: Work 2 dc in every dc = 22 dc.
ROUND 3: * 1 dc in next dc, work 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 33 dc.
ROUND 4: * 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc, work 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 44 dc.
ROUND 5: * 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, work 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 55 dc.
ROUND 6: * 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, work 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 66 dc.
ROUND 7: 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc, * 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 78 dc. Insert a marker after round – NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE!

Then work according to diagram A.1-A.3, i.e. work as follows:
ROUND 1: Work 4 ch (= 1 tr), 3 tr in first dc, skip 2 dc, * 1 sc in next dc, skip 2 dc, 7 tr in next dc, skip 2 dc *, repeat from *-* 11 more times, 1 sc in next dc, skip 2 dc, 3 tr in 3rd ch from beg of previous round, finish with 1 sl st in 4th ch from beg of round = 13 fans.
ROUND 2: ch 1, 1 sc in first ch, * 7 tr in next sc, skip 3 tr, 1 sc in next tr *, repeat from *-* 11 more times, 7 tr in next sc, finish with 1 sl st in first sc from beg of round = 13 fans.
ROUND 3: ch 4, 3 tr in first sc, skip 3 tr, * 1 sc in next tr, 7 tr in next sc, skip 3 tr *, repeat from *-* 11 more times, 1 sc in next tr, 3 tr in 1st sc from beg of previous round, finish with 1 sl st in 4th ch from beg of round = 13 fans.
Repeat round 2 and 3 until piece measures approx. 25 cm / 9 3/4'' from marker.

Continue to work as follows:
ROUND 1: READ CROCHET INFO! Work 1 dc in each of the next 2 tr, skip 1 tr, * 1 dc in next sc, skip 1 tr, 1 dc in each of the next 5 tr, skip 1 tr *, repeat from *-* 11 more times, 1 dc in next sc, skip 1 tr, 1 dc in each of the next 3 tr = 78 dc.
ROUND 2: * 1 dc, ch 1, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 39 holes.
ROUND 3: * 1 dc in dc, 1 dc in ch *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 78 dc.
ROUND 4: 1 dc in every dc = 78 dc.
ROUND 5: ch 1, work REVERSE CROCHET – see explanation above, in every dc. Finish with 1 sl st in first ch from beg of round. Fasten off.

HANDLE:
Work 6 ch on hook size 4.5 mm/ US 7 with brown and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. Work 1 sc in every ch = 6 sc. Then work in the round with 1 sc in every sc until handle measures approx. 100 cm / 39½'', fasten off. Pull end of handle through a hole at the top of bag from WS, make a knot from RS. Repeat on the other side of bag.

TIE:
Cut 10 brown lengths of 4.5 meters/5 yds each. Twine the strands tog until they resist, fold the string double so that it twines again. Tie a knot in each end - leave some cm's / an inch outside. Thread tie through eyelet row, tie a double knot over first knot in each end and make fringes at the end of tie.

Jeny 27.06.2016 - 11:29:

Hello, i hv just finished making the bag part. And a little bit confused on how to crochet the handle part. Please help..

DROPS Design 27.06.2016 kl. 17:36:

Dear Jeny, start handle with 6 ch, join in the round with 1 sl st in 1st ch, then crochet 1 dc in every chain around = 6 dc (= UK-English terminology). Continue then working 1 dc in each st around until piece measures approx. 100 cm. You will have something like a long "tube" and each end of this tube will be then inserted into a hole at the top of bag (from inside towards outside) and make a knot at the end (facing outwards) to keep it in place. Happy crocheting!

Estelle 24.05.2016 - 16:22:

Bon crochet!

Kriz 07.04.2016 - 15:57:

Hi, Which hole is the one for the handle? Is it one of the holes in the eyelet row? Thanks :D

DROPS Design 07.04.2016 kl. 17:35:

Dear Kriz, that's correct - happy crocheting!

Hadar 01.02.2016 - 17:08:

Hello, i love this bag! although i got confused by the CROCHET INFO.. when counting the dc after every round in the beginning the 3 chains doesn't count? meaning, if after round 2 i should have 22 dc including the 3 chains or not including? thanks a lot!

DROPS Design 02.02.2016 kl. 09:25:

Dear Mrs Hadar, the 3 ch at beg of round do not replace the 1st dc, ie when you have 22 dc, you should have 22 dc + 3 ch at beg of round. Happy crocheting!

Sylvie 01.05.2015 - 20:05:

Great bag, thanks. I would however like to make it a bit bigger, and for this I'd need to know how many stitches I should have at the end of round 7 instead of 78. Should I calculate in order to have a multiple of a certain amount of stitches ? If yes, what is it ? Many thanks for your help.

DROPS Design 02.05.2015 kl. 14:29:

Dear Sylvie, if you want it bigger continue increasing 11 sts per round as before until 1 round before the bottom get the correct measurements, then work 1 more round adjusting inc to get a number of sts multiple by 6 (A.1 (=3 sts), A.2 (= 6 sts), A.3 (= 3 sts), and repeat A.2 as many times as required. Happy crocheting!

Nekane 23.04.2015 - 17:33:

Nita Sands 27.07.2014 - 04:59:

This is really fabulous. I've made 4.

Anastasia 15.07.2014 - 13:21:

Hello! This is a wonderful and easy to crochet bag but I was wondering whether there is a way to make the handle stronger? I have used the bag only once putting inside it just a wallet, keys and phone but realised that the handle became quite stretched... Thank you?

DROPS Design 15.07.2014 kl. 14:10:

Dear Anastasia, what about crocheting the same way but with a smaller hook (so that it could be tigher/stronger) ? Happy crocheting!

Astrid Heide 04.07.2014 - 14:31:

Hallo, wird die Tasche ein oder zweifädig gehäkelt? LG

DROPS Design 04.07.2014 kl. 15:08:

Liebe Astrid, Sie häkeln die Tasche einfädig. Entweder mit Bomull-Lin oder mit Paris. Die angegebene Maschenprobe gilt für beide Garne. Viel Spaß beim Häkeln!
