Kntting tips: Pattern on the yoke is the same for all sizes which means the wine coloured body piece is bigger/longer for each size. The jersey in the picture is size 2 years.

Back and front piece: Read knitting tips! Cast on 160-176-184 (200-216) sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm in middle grey and knit 4-4-5 (5-5) cm rib edge. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm and knit M.1. After M.1 continue in wine. Remember the knitting tension. When piece measures 19-22-25 (29-31) cm knit M.2. At the same time, when piece measures 24-25-27 (29-30) cm knit next row as follows: Cast off 3 sts for armhole, 74-82-86 (94-102) sts for front piece, cast off 6 sts for armhole, 74-82-86 (94-102) sts for back piece, cast off 3 sts for armhole. Complete front and back pieces separately.

Front piece: = 74-82-86 (94-102) sts. Cast off for armhole each side on every other row: 3 sts 0-0-0 (1-1) times, 2 sts 3-4-3 (3-4) times, 1 st 2-2-2 (2-3) times = 58-62-70 (72-74) sts. When 13 rows are left of M.2 cast off middle 14-16-16 (18-18) sts for neck and dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 2 times. Cast off when piece measures 37-40-43 (47-49) cm.

Back piece: = 74-82-86 (94-102) sts. Cast off for armhole as described for front piece = 58-62-70 (72-74) sts. When 5 rows are left of M.2 cast off the middle 22-24-24 (26-26) sts for neck and cast off 2 sts on next row towards neckline. Cast off when piece measures 37-40-43 (47-49) cm.

Sleeve: Cast on 44-44-48 (48-52) sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with middle grey. Knit 4-4-5 (5-5) cm rib edge. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and knit M.1, then continue in wine. At the same time, inc 2 sts mid under arm: 4-9-9 (13-14) times on every 16-8-9 (7-7) rounds = 52-62-66 (74-80) sts. When piece measures 21-26-31 (37-41) cm continue in M.2 until finished measurements (sleeve will be completed before you have knitted the entire pattern repeat). At the same time, when piece measures 26-29-33 (37-40) cm cast off for armhole as follows: Cast off 6 sts mid under arm and complete sleeve back and forth on needle. Change to wine, knit 1 round rib. If double rib edge is required knit at follows: change to dark plum, knit 2-3-3 (4-4) cm rib edge, cast off. If required, double neck towards WS and sew.

Bon tricot!

Pramila, the pattern explains how to first cast off 3 sts, then work your way to other side and cast off 6 sts, then end round with cast off another 3 sts, this will make it 6 sts each side. And reason why not starting with 6 is because you want the 6 sts to be cast off each side of the beginning of the round since that is the side of your garment.

Tessan 07.08.2010 - 10:05:

It means 6 stiches at each side, as it is round. Older patterns are confusing!

Pramila Vivek 07.08.2010 - 03:12:

There seems to be an error in the 2nd paragraph.cast off 3 stitches . Should this be cast of 6 stitches for front and 6 stitches for back? Help!!!! thanks for your assistance
