Sew squares tog edge to edge, see diagram X.1 in which order for your size. These make up the upper part/neck of poncho. Now work in the round from bottom edge of granny squares as follows - read
STRIPE PATTERN:

ROUND 1: Start in the side of square 7 (see arrow in diagram X.1). * Work 1 dtr-group – see explanation above – in each of the first 2 ch-loops. Next ch-loop is in the corner of two granny squares, here work 1 dtr in the first square, 1 dtr in the seam and 1 dtr in next granny square corner *, repeat from *-* a total of 2-3-4 times. Then work 1 dtr-group in each of the next 2 ch-loops. In the corner of square mid front work inc - read INCREASE. Repeat from *-* a total of 5-6-8 times. Then work 1 dtr-group in each of the next 2 ch-loops. In the corner of square mid back work inc. Repeat from *-* a total of 3-3-4 times, then work 1 dtr-group in each of the next 2 ch-loops, work 1 dtr-group in the corner and finish with 1 sl st at the top of first tr on round = 38-44-56 dtr-groups. Cut the thread.

ROUND 2: Switch colour and work from middle ch-loop at square 7 (right side): Work 1 dtr-group in all ch-loops but in the tip mid front and mid back work inc. Finish with 1 sl st at the top of first dtr on round = 40-46-58 dtr-groups.

From ROUND 3 until finished measurements: Work as 2nd round. Every round then inc with 2 dtr-groups. After all rounds there are 74-80-96 dtr-groups on round. Cut and fasten the thread.

NECK EDGE:
Work 1 round with off white on the upper side of granny squares as follows: * Work 1 dtr-group in each of the first 2 ch-loops. Next ch-loop is in the corner of two granny squares, here work 1 dtr in the first square, 1 dtr in the seam and 1 dtr in next granny square corner *, repeat from *-* the entire round, cut and fasten the thread.

TIES:
Work a ch band that measures approx. 1.5 metres with off white. Work a total of 3 bands like this. Braid the three ch-bands tog and tie a knot in each end. Thread the tie up and down the neck edge and make a knot mid front.

Yvonne Ann 18.02.2016 - 19:11:

Just a question on the sizes for the ' Summer of 69 ' poncho , wondering what the XS/S and the M/L measure up as ? I would be very grateful for any help . Thank you x

DROPS Design 19.02.2016 kl. 10:08:

Dear Mrs Ann, you will find at the end of the pattern a measurement chart with all measurements for each size in cm taken flat from side to side. Happy crocheting!

Henriette Mortensen 10.01.2016 - 19:32:

Hejsa ...

DROPS Design 28.08.2015 kl. 15:52:

Valitettavasti emme voida arvoida kuinka paljon lankaa ponchoon tällöin tarvitaan. Voit kuitenkin kysyä lankoja myyvässä liikkeessä, jos voit palauttaa mahdolliset ylimääräiset langat.

Nadia 01.07.2015 - 21:34:

Hello I would appreciate any tips how to change the size of this beautiful poncho for kids (4+) apart using smaller hook...:-) Thanks in advance for your help Regards Nadia

DROPS Design 02.07.2015 kl. 10:02:

Dear Nadia, you can take inspiration from DROPS 89-6 and adjust to your own gauge. Please contact your DROPS store for any individual assistance. Happy crocheting!

Inger Neye 27.06.2015 - 15:51:

Nik 26.04.2015 - 14:27:

Love this. Would the XS be ok for a petite 12 year old in your opinion.

DROPS Design 27.04.2015 kl. 11:15:

Dear Nik, you will find at the bottom of the pattern a measurement chart with all measurement for each size, taken flat from side to side. Compare these to a similar garment she has and like the shapes to find out the matching size - you can take inspiration too with this poncho for kids. Happy crocheting!

Karine 23.04.2015 - 20:19:

Bon crochet!

JMM Kempen-Berends 21.04.2015 - 10:04:

Zijn alle vierkantjes even groot opvoorbeeld lijkt er verschil vr.gr.JMM

DROPS Design 21.04.2015 kl. 13:03:

Hoi. De vierkantjes zijn gelijk - zie patroon.
