NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in American and British English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in British English, please click here.
ROUNDS WITH DC (applies to bag):
All rounds with dc beg with ch 2 (NOTE: not counted as first dc), continue with 1 dc in every st, finish round with 1 sl st in 1st dc at beg of round.

COLOR CHANGE - DC:
Switch color at the end of round as follows: Crochet 1 sl st with the new color in 1st dc on round. Continue on to next round with the new color.

STRIPES:
* Work 1 round cerise, 1 round gray purple *, repeat from *-* until finished measurements.

BOBBLE 1:
Work bobble at beg of round as follows: ch 3 (= 1st dc), work 1 dc in 1st st but wait with last pull through (= 2 sts on hook), work 1 dc the same way in the same st, pull yarn through all 3 sts on hook.

BOBBLE:
Work 1 dc but wait with last pull through (= 2 sts on hook), work 2 dc the same way in the same sc, pull yarn through all 4 sts on hook.

WORK IN THE ROUND IN A CIRCLE (applies to handles):
After last sc on round, continue to next round with 1 sc in next st (= first st on next round). NOTE: Insert a marker at the beg of round between last st and first st on the round, move the marker upwards.

BAG:
Worked in the round bottom up. Ch 4 on hook size 4.5 mm/US 7 with gray purple and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: ch 2, then 8 dc in ch-ring. Read ROUNDS WITH DC above.
ROUND 2: 2 dc in every dc = 16 dc. NOTE: Switch to cerise at the end of round - Read COLOR CHANGE - DC above. Now start stripes - Read STRIPES above.
ROUND 3: * 1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 24 dc.
ROUND 4: * 1 dc in the next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 32 dc.
ROUND 5: * 1 dc in the next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 40 dc.
ROUND 6: * 1 dc in the next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 48 dc.
ROUND 7: * 1 dc in the next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 56 dc.
ROUND 8: * 1 dc in the next 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 64 dc.
ROUND 9: Work 1 dc in every dc = 64 dc.
ROUND 10: * 1 dc in the next 7 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 72 dc.
Continue to work in the round with 1 dc in every dc until piece measures 20 cm / 8'' (or desired height), finish with 1 round cerise. Fasten off.

FLAP/LARGE FLOWER:
Worked in the round from the centre of flower. Ch 4 with gray purple and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: ch 4 (= 1st dc and 1st ch-space), * 1 dc in ch-ring, ch 1 *, repeat from *-* a total of 6 times, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round = 7 dc and 7 ch-spaces.
ROUND 2: ch 1, * 1 sc in next ch-space, 3 ch *, repeat from *-* the entire round, finish with 1 sl st in 1st sc on round = 7 sc and 7 ch-spaces.
ROUND 3: ch 1, * 3 sc in next ch-space, 2 ch *, repeat from *-* the entire round, finish with 1 sl st in 1st sc on round = 7 sc-groups with 3 sc and 7 ch-spaces.
ROUND 4: 1 sl st in 2nd sc (= middle sc in 1st sc-group), work BOBBLE 1 in same sc - Read BOBBLE 1 above (= 1st bobble), ch 2, 1 dc in next sc from 2nd round (skip 3rd round), ch 2, * BOBBLE - Read BOBBLE above - in the middle sc in next sc-group, ch 2, 1 dc in next sc from 2nd round, 2 ch *, repeat from *-* a total of 6 times, finish with 1 sl st in BOBBLE 1 at beg of round with cerise = 7 bobbles.
ROUND 5: ch 1, 1 sc in 1st bobble, * ch 2, 1 dc in next sc from 3rd round (= sc to the left of bobble from 4th round), 1 sc in next dc from 4th round, 1 dc in next sc from 3rd round (= sc to the right of next bobble from 4th round), ch 2, 1 sc in next BOBBLE *. Repeat from *-* a total of 6 times, finish with ch 2, 1 dc in next sc from 3rd round, 1 sc in next dc from 4th round, 1 dc in next sc from 3rd round, ch 2, then 1 sl st in 1st sc with gray purple (= switched to gray purple).
ROUND 6: ch 1, 1 sc in same st, * 3 sc in next ch-space, 1 sc in the next 3 sts, 3 sc in next ch-space, 1 sc in next sc *. Repeat from *-* a total of 6 times, finish with 3 sc in next ch-space, 1 sc in the next 3 sts, 3 sc in next ch-space, then 1 sl st in 1st sc with cerise (= switched to cerise).
ROUND 7: ch 1, 1 sc in same st, * skip 1 st, 3 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, skip 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st *. Repeat from *-* a total of 6 times, finish with skipping 1 st, 3 dc in next st, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, skip 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, 1 sl st in 1st sc on round.
Cut the yarn and keep 50 cm / 19 3/4'' for assembly.

SMALL FLOWER WITH TIE:
Worked in the round from the centre of flower. Ch 4 with gray purple and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: ch 1, * 1 sc in ch-ring, ch 3 * a total of 6 times, finish with 1 sl st in 1st sc with cerise (= switched to cerise) = 6 sc and 6 ch-spaces.
ROUND 2: Work 1 sl st in 1st ch-space, * 1 sc, 3 dc in ch-space *, repeat from *-* in every ch-space, finish with 1 sl st in 1st sc.
Do not cut the thread, continue to work ch for approx. 10 cm / 4'', work 1 sl st in the last st on the large flower (flap), cut the thread and fasten. Work another small flower the same way but ch for approx. 12 cm / 4¾'', fasten it in the same st on flap.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew the flap on the back of bag (where round beg/ends), approx. 3 cm / 1'' from the upper edge.

HANDLE:
Work in the round in a circle. Chain for approx. 30 cm / 11 3/4'' with cerise.
ROUND 1: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in every ch until 1 ch remains on row, work 3 sc in the last ch, then work 1 sc in every ch on the other side of ch-row, finish with 2 sc in the last ch - Read WORK IN THE ROUND IN A CIRCLE above.
ROUND 2: Work 1 sc in every st but work 3 sc in the middle st at each end.
ROUND 3: Work 1 sc in every st but work 2 sc in the 2 sts on each side of the middle st at each end.
Cut the yarn and keep 30 cm / 11 3/4'' for assembly (piece measures approx. 36 cm / 14 1/4''). Work another handle the same way. Sew the handles on each side of the large flower.
