KNITTING TIP:
When turning mid piece slip the first st as if to K, tighten the thread and work return row, to avoid a hole.
GARTER ST, back and forth on needle: K all rows.
BUTTONHOLES:
Make 5-5-6 buttonholes on right front band as follows from WS: 1 buttonhole = K2 tog and make 1 YO. Work YO into back of loop on return row in order not to make the hole too big.
Work 2 garter sts, P2, * make 1 buttonhole, 6 sts in rib *, repeat from *-* a total of 4-4-5 times, make 1 buttonhole and work remaining sts as before.
INCREASING TIP:
Inc 1 st by making 1 YO. Work YO into back of loop on return row to avoid a hole.

SHOULDER WRAP:
Worked from side to side. Cast on 42-46-50 sts on needle size 7 mm with Eskimo. NOTE: work the 2 last sts – towards the top – in 2 threads Eskimo throughout. Continue as follows from RS: 2 garter sts – see above – rib K2/P2 until 4 sts remain, finish with K2 and 2 garter sts. When rib measures 4 cm P 1 row from WS, AT THE SAME TIME dec 8 sts evenly on row = 34-38-42 sts. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Change to needle size 8 mm and continue in garter st, AT THE SAME TIME work shortened rows as follows, beg from RS: * work 21-25-29 sts, turn piece – SEE KNITTING TIP – and work return row, work 25-29-33 sts, turn piece and work return row, work 2 rows garter st on all sts * repeat from *-* until piece measures approx 36-38-40 cm at the top - adjust to after a full repeat. Change to needle size 7 mm and K 1 row from RS, AT THE SAME TIME inc 8 sts evenly – SEE INCREASING TIP = 42-46-50 sts. Continue as follows from WS: 2 garter sts, rib P2/K2 until 4 sts remain, and finish with P2 and 2 garter sts. When rib measures 2 cm make BUTTONHOLES on next row from WS – see above. Continue in rib with 2 garter sts each side and cast off when rib measures 4 cm. Piece measures approx 112-118-124 cm at the bottom.
Sew on buttons to fit buttonholes.

HAT:
Circumference: approx 54-56-58 cm
Materials: DROPS ESKIMO
150-150-200 g colour no 24, yellow

DROPS POINTED NEEDLES size 7 mm – or size needed to get 12 sts x 24 rows in garter st = 10 x 10 cm.

INCREASING TIP:
Inc 1 st by making 1 YO. Work YO into back of loop on return row to avoid a hole.
DECREASING TIP:
At beg of row: slip first st as if to K, K1, psso.
At the end of row: slip the last but one st, K the last st, psso.

HAT:
Cast on 25-26-27 sts on needle size 7 mm with Eskimo and work 6 rows garter st – see above. Continue in garter st, AT THE SAME TIME inc and dec on every other row (= every row from RS) – SEE INCREASING and DECREASING TIP:
Inc 1 st at the right side and dec 1 st at the left side of piece on every other row (= every row from RS) until piece measures 9-10-11 cm.
Dec 1 st on the right side and inc 1 st on the left side of piece on every other row (= every row from RS) until piece measures 18-20-22 cm.
Inc 1 st at the right side and dec 1 st at the left side of piece on every other row until piece measures 22.5-25-27.5 cm (half the hat).
Dec 1 st on the right side and inc 1 st on the left side of piece on every other row until piece measures 27-30-33 cm.
Inc 1 st at the right side and dec 1 st at the left side of piece on every other row until piece measures 36-40-44 cm.
Dec 1 st on the right side and inc 1 st on the left side of piece on every other row until piece measures 45-50-55 cm.

ASSEMBLY:
The front = the part of piece with 3 whole points and the back = the part of piece with 2 whole points and 2 half points. Now sew the hat tog as follows – see chart: Sew hat tog edge to edge by sewing the first half point to the first half of the first whole point. Then sew the other half of the first whole point to the first half of second whole point, and the other half of the second whole point to the last half point. Sew hat tog mid back.

TASSEL:
Cut threads measuring 36 cm each and fold them double (tassel = 18 cm). Cut enough threads to make a “full” tassel. Gather all the threads by tightening a thread round the middle. Attach tassel to the top of hat
so that all the thread ends fall over the hat. Cut open the double thread ends.
