Tips & Help

Thank you for choosing DROPS Design!

We do our best to make our patterns easy to follow.

For that purpose, each of our patterns has specific tutorial videos to help you, which you will find at the bottom of the page.

We have also step-by-step lessons to help you understand some of the techniques we use in our patterns. You'll find them here!

NOTE: This pattern is written in British English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from cm to inches - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in British and American English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in American English, please click here.
ROW 1(= RS): Work row until 4-4-5 sts remain, K2 tog into back of loop, turn piece.
ROW 2 (= WS): Work row until 4-4-5 sts remain, P2 tog, turn piece.
ROW 3: Work row until 3-3-4 sts remain, K2 tog into back of loop, turn piece.
ROW 4: Work row until 3-3-4 sts remain, P2 tog, turn piece.
Continue dec like this with 1 less st between each dec until 6 sts remain on needle.
SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Loosely cast on 24-24-30 sts on double pointed needles size 8 mm with Eskimo. Insert a marker at beg of round. K 1 round and continue in rib, K3/P3, for 6 cm. Now K 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME dec 2-0-4 sts evenly = 22-24-26 st. Continue in stocking st. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
When piece measures 12-14-16 cm keep the first 12-12-14 sts on needle for heel and slip the last 10-12-12 sts on a stitch holder (= mid upper foot). Work stocking st back and forth on heel sts for 5-6-7 cm. Insert a marker in piece. Now dec for heel – see above. After heel dec pick up 6-7-8 sts on each side of heel and slip the 10-12-12 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 28-32-34 sts. Continue in stocking st in the round, AT THE SAME TIME dec each side as follows: P tog the last 2 sts before and P tog the first 2 sts after the 10-12-12 sts mid upper foot, and repeat the dec on every other round 4-4-3 times = 20-24-28 sts. When piece measures 19-20-22 cm from marker on heel (approx 3-4-5 cm remain) insert a marker each side with 10-12-14 sts on upper foot and 10-12-14 sts under foot. Now dec for toe on each side of both markers as follows – beg 3 sts before marker: K2 tog, K2 (marker sits between these 2 sts), K2 tog into back of loop. Repeat the dec on every other round 3 times and then on every round 0-1-2 times = 8 sts left on needle. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten.
