Garter st, in the round: K 1 round, P 1 round.
Increasing tip:
Inc inside 1 garter st from RS as follows:
Inc 1 st by making 1 YO. On return row work YO into back of st to avoid a hole. (Work inc sts in garter st).

Earflap: Cast on 3 sts on needle size 8 mm. K 1 row from RS and continue in garter st – see above. Remember the knitting tension! At the same time inc 1 st – see Increasing tip – each side on every other row a total of 6 times = 15 sts. Continue until piece measures 7 cm. Slip sts on a stitch holder and make one more earflap.
Hat: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 6-7 sts on needle size 8 mm with off-white, slip 1 earflap on needle (15 sts), cast on 15-16 sts, slip the other earflap on needle (15 sts) and cast on 6-7 sts = 57-60 sts. Insert a Marking Thread (MT) in piece and continue in garter st - see above - for 5 cm on all sts. Now continue in stocking st. At the same time when piece measures 17-19 cm from MT dec 9 sts evenly on every other round a total of 4 times = 21-24 sts. Continue until piece measures 24-25 cm from MT, cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten.
Pleat: Cut 6 threads off-white measuring approx 65 cm each. Pull one end off all threads through point of earflap (= 12 threads for pleat). Divide the threads in 3 (= 4 threads in each part) and pleat tog. Repeat on the other earflap.

SCARF
Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows.

Scarf: Cast on 18 sts on needle size 8 mm with Eskimo. Work garter st – see above – until piece measures 9 cm. Slip the first 9 sts on a stitch holder and continue in garter st on the remaining 9 sts for 13 cm. Now slip these 9 sts on a stitch holder and work 13 cm garter st on sts from first stitch holder. Slip all sts back on needle and work garter st on all sts until piece measures 68 cm. Cast off.
