Back piece: Worked back and forth on needle.
Cast on 97-104-110-119-130-139 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 4.5 mm [US 7]. Work 4 rows garter st – see above -and continue in reverse stockinette st. Remember the knitting gauge/gauge!
When piece measures 6 cm [2 3/8’’] dec 1 st each side on every 3.5-3.5-3.5-3.5-4-4 cm [1 1/4’’-1 1/4’’-1 1/4’’-1 1/4’’-1½’’-1½’’] a total of 10 times = 77-84-90-99-110-119 sts.
When piece measures 42-43-44-45-46-47 cm [16½’’-17’’-17 1/4’’-17 3/4’’-18’’-18½’’] – adjust so that next row is from RS – work 5 rows garter st, at the same time on first row adjust number of sts to 78-86-90-98-110-118.
Continue as follows from WS: 1 edge st, M.1 on the next 76-84-88-96-108-116 sts and finish with 1 edge st.
When piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm [20½’’-21 1/4’’-22’’-22 3/4’’-23 5/8’’-24 3/8’’] bind off for armhole each side on every other row: 4 sts (1 repeat) a total of 1-2-2-3-4-5 times - first time also bind off the 1 edge st) = 68-68-72-72-76-76 sts.
When piece measures 68-71-74-77-80-83 cm [26 3/4’’-28’’-29 1/8’’-30 3/8’’-31½’’-32 3/4’’] work garter st on the middle 36-36-40-40-44-44 sts, work remaining st as before.
When piece measures 70-73-76-79-82-85 cm [27½’’-28 3/4’’-30’’-31’’-32 1/4’’-33½’’] bind off the middle 20-20-24-24-28-28 sts for neck = 24 sts left on each shoulder.
Continue with 8 garter sts towards neckline and bind off when piece measures 72-75-78-81-84-87 cm [28 3/8"-29½"-30 3/4"-32"-33"-24 1/4"].

Right front piece:
Cast on 61-64-67-72-77-82 sts (includes 1 edge st at side and 8 front band sts towards mid front) on needle size 4.5 mm [US 7]. Work 4 rows garter st.
Continue as follows from RS: 8 front band sts in garter st until finished measurements, P4, M.4 (= 6 sts), P 8-10-11-14-16-19, M.2 (= 16 sts), P 18-19-21-23-26-28, 1 edge st. Remember buttonholes!
Now read all of the following section before continuing!
After 1 vertical repeat of M.2, continue in M.3 above M.2.
Repeat M.3 until piece measures 42-43-44-45-46-47 cm [16½’’-17’’-17 1/4’’-17 3/4’’-18’’-18½’’]. Note! When you cannot fit in a full vertical repeat of M.3, only work and repeat the top 6 rows in diagram.

When piece measures 42-43-44-45-46-47 cm [16½’’-17’’-17 1/4’’-17 3/4’’-18’’-18½’’], adjust so that next row is from RS, work 5 rows garter st, but work 22 sts towards mid front as before.
At the same time adjust number of sts to 51-55-59-63-67-71 on the first row in garter st (do not adjust on the 22 sts towards mid front).
Continue as follows from WS: 1 edge st, M.1 on the next 28-32-36-40-44-48 sts, K4, M.4, K4, 8 garter sts (front band). When piece measures 43-46-47-50-53-56 cm [17’’-18’’-18½’’-19 3/4’’-21’’- 22’’] dec 1 st to shape the neckline on every cm [3/8’’] a total of 22-22-26-26-26-26 times – see Decreasing tip!

Left front piece:
Cast on and work like right front piece, but mirrored. Work first pattern row as follows from RS: 1 edge st, P 18-19-21-23-26-28, M.2 (= 16 sts), P 8-10-11-14-16-19, M.4 (= 6 sts), P4, 8 front band sts in garter st. Do not make buttonholes!

When piece measures 21-21-20-19-18-17 cm [8 1/4’’-8 1/4’’-8’’-7½’’-7’’-6 3/4’’] (less on the larger sizes because of longer sleeve cap and wider shoulder) dec to shape the sleeve cap each side on every other row. Note! Because of the decreases the number of sts will not fit M.1. P sts not fitting into pattern from RS and K from WS. Dec as follows: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3-3-3-4-4-4 times, 1 st 0-1-2-2-3-5 times and then 2 sts each side until piece measures 27-28-28-29-29-30 cm [10 5/8’’-11’’-11’’-11 3/8’’-11 3/8’’-11 3/4’’].
Now bind off 3 sts 1 time each side and bind off remaining sts.
Piece measures approx 28-29-29-30-30-31 cm [11’’-11 3/8’’-11 3/8’’-11 3/4’’-11 3/4’’-12 1/4’’].

Bon tricot!

Colleen 13.04.2013 - 21:36:

How many ounces of wool would this sweater take

DROPS Design 04.05.2013 kl. 08:54:

Dear Colleen, required materials is indicated at the right side of the picture, eg 750 in size S, 750 g / 50 g = 15 balls, since Silke Alpaca is discontinued, please have a look in the alternatives. Your Drops shop will help you if necessary. Happy knitting!

Corlouer 24.04.2012 - 12:32:

Bon tricot !

DROPS Design 30.09.2008 - 05:32:

Reverse stockinette is stockinette with WS out, i.e you purl sts from RS and knit sts from WS. Berry pattern - make sure 1st row in pattern is worked from WS.

JEAN 30.09.2008 - 05:06:

I AM TRYING TO DO THIS PATTERN. PLEASE SHOW BACK AND EXPLAIN REVERSE STOCKINET ST. MY "BERRY PATTERN " DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE PICTURE. pLEASE RESPOND IN ENGLISH. THANK YOU

DROPS Design 28.02.2008 - 10:51:

Ja riktig!

Monika 28.02.2008 - 10:48:

Tenkte jeg skulle strikke denne nå. Er det slik at jeg bør måle arbeidet mens jeg holder det oppe pga tyngden på garnet?
