DROPS needle size 6.5 mm [US 10½] – or needle size needed to make 13 sts x 20 rows moss st with 1 thread Cotton Viscose, 1 thread Silke-Tweed and 1 thread Glitter = 10 x 10 cm [4’’ x 4’’].

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in American and British English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in British English, please click here.
Moss stitch: 1st row: * K1, P1 *, repeat from *-*. 2nd row: K over P and P over K. Repeat 2nd row.

Buttonhole: Bind off for buttonholes on right front piece.
1 buttonhole = bind off 3rd st from mid front and cast on 1 new st on return row. Bind off for buttonhole when piece measures (measured mid front after all sts on front piece have been cast on):
Size S: 3/4” and 3 1/8”
Size M: 3/4” and 3½”
Size L: 3/4” and 3½”
Size XL: 3/4” and 3½”
Size XXL: 3/4” and 4”
Size XXXL: 3/4” and 4”

Back piece: Cast on 19-25-29-29-37-45 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 6.5 mm [US 10½] with 1 thread Cotton Viscose, 1 thread Silke-Tweed and 1 thread Glitter. P 1 row from WS, and now complete piece in moss st – see explanation above. Remember knitting gauge! At the same time cast on new sts each side on every other row: 3 sts a total of 5-5-5-6-6-6 times = 49-55-59-65-73-81 sts – work inc sts in moss st. Measure piece from here. When piece measures 1½” inc 1 st each side on every 1.1”-1½”-1½”-1.7”-2”-2.2” a total of 3 times = 55-61-65-71-79-87 sts. When piece measures 5.1”-5½”-6”-6.2”-6.7”-7” dec for armhole each side on every other row: 3 sts 0-1-1-1-1-1 times, 2 sts 1-1-1-2-3-4 times and 1 st 1-0-1-2-3-5 times = 49-51-53-53-55-55 sts. When piece measures 8”-8.2”-8.7”-9”-9½”-10.6” inc 1 st each side for wide shoulders. Repeat inc when piece measures 9½-9.7”-10.2”-10.6”-11.4”-12.2” = 53-55-57-57-59-59 sts. When piece measures
11.7”-12½”-13.4”-14.2”-15”-15.7” cast/bind off the middle 13-13-15-15-17-17 sts for neck and dec 1 st on neckline on next row = 19-20-20-20-20-20 sts left on each shoulder. Bind off when piece measures
12½”-13.4”-14.2”-15”-15.7”-16½”.

Left front piece: Cast on 11-11-11-13-15-15 sts (includes 1 edge st at side) on needle size 6.5 mm [US 10 ½] with 1 thread Cotton Viscose, 1 thread Silke-Tweed and 1 thread Glitter. P 1 row from WS, and now complete piece in moss st. Cast on new sts towards mid front on every other row as follows: 4 sts 2 times, 2 sts 6-7-8-9-10-12 times. At the same time when piece measures 1½” inc at side as described for back piece. After all inc there are 34-36-38-42-46-50 sts on row. When piece measures 5.1”-5½”-6”-6.2”-6.7”-7” dec for armhole as described for back piece. At the same time when piece measures 6.7”-7½”-8”-8.7”-9”-9.7”bind off 2 sts towards mid front and dec to shape the neckline on every other row as follows: 1 st 12-11-12-13-14-14 times. At the same time when piece measures 8”-8.2”-8.7”-9”-9½”-10.6” and 9½-9.7”-10.2”-10.6”-11.4”-12.2” inc 1 st at side for wide shoulder. After all inc and dec are complete there are 19-20-20-20-20-20 sts left on shoulder. Bind off when piece measures 12½”-13.4”-14.2”-15”-15.7”-16½”.

Right front piece: Cast on and work like left front piece, but reversed. Remember to cast/bind off for buttonholes – see explanation above.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew side seams.

Crochet border: Crochet a border round the whole waistcoat and round armhole on crochet hook size 5 mm [H/8] with 1 thread Cotton Viscose, 1 thread Silke-Tweed and 1 thread Glitter as follows: * 1 sc, 3 ch and skip approx ½”, 1 sc* repeat from *-* and finish with 1 sl st in first sc.

Button cover: Crochet covers for 2 buttons on crochet hook size 3 mm [C] with 1 thread Cotton Viscose and 1 thread Glitter as follows:
Crochet 2 ch, then crochet 16 dc in the first ch, finish with 1 sl st at the top of first dc (= round 1).
Round 2: Crochet 1 sc in each dc and finish with 1 sl st in first sc from beg of round = 16 sc.
Round 3: Crochet 3 ch and then 1 dc in every other sc and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch = 8 dc.
Slip buttons into cover, sew around edge and tie tog. Sew in buttons on left front piece.
