Pattern instructions

Knitting tension: Remember needle size is only a guide. 11 stitches with needle size 9 mm and rib = approx. 10 cm in width. 8 stitches with needle size 9 mm and M.1 = approx. 10 cm in width.

Ridge/Garter stitch (back and forth on needle):1 ridge = Knit 2 rows.

Rib: * K3, P3 *, repeat from *-*.

Pattern: See diagram M.1. The diagram shows the pattern seen from the right side.
---------------------------------------------------------

Front piece: Cast on 38-44-50-56-62 stitches (incl. 1 edge stitch in each side) over 2 needles size 9 mm and 2 strands Vivaldi (this is so that the cast-off edge is elastic). Pull out the one needle and purl 1 row from the wrong side. Then work rib with 1 edge stitch in each side. When piece measures 10 cm, knit 1 row from the right side at the same time as you decrease 9-13-15-15-17 stitches evenly on row = 29-31-35-41-45 stitches. Knit 1 row from the wrong side and then remove 1 strand Vivaldi (the piece is continued with just 1 strand).

Read the whole of the next section before continuing.

Work garter stitch for 1-1-2-2-3 cm. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: 2-3-5-8-10 stitches garter stitch, M.1A (= 5 stitches), M.1B (= 12 stitches), M.1C (= 8 stitches) and finish with 2-3-5-8-10 stitches garter stitch. Continue the pattern in this way - M.1 is worked 2 times in height, then continue with garter stitch over all stitches to finished length. Remember the knitting tension! At the same time, increase 1 stitch in each side when piece measures: in Sizes S + M + L: 12 and 24 cm and in Sizes XL + XXL: 20 cm = 33-35-39-43-47 stitches - the increased stitches are worked in garter stitch.

When piece measures 34-35-36-37-38 cm, decrease in each side for armholes every 2nd row: 3 stitches 0-0-0-1-1 time, 2 stitches 1-1-1-0-1 time and 1 stitch 0-0-1-1-1 time = 29-31-33-35-35 stitches. When piece measures 41-43-45-47-49 cm, cast off the middle 5-5-5-7-7 stitches for neck. Then decrease in each side towards neck every 2nd row: 2 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 2 times = 8-9-10-10-10 stitches left on each shoulder. When piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm loosely cast off.

Back piece: Cast on and work as for front piece - work pattern on back piece as well. Decrease for armholes as for front piece. When piece measures 50-52-54-56-58 cm, cast off the middle 11-11-11-13-13 stitches for neck. Then decrease 1 stitch on next row towards neck = 8-9-10-10-10 stitches left on each shoulder. When piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm, loosely cast off.

Assembly: Sew right shoulder seam.

Neck: Knit up 48 to 54 stitches (divisible by 6) around neck with needle size 9 mm and 2 strands Vivaldi. Knit 1 row from the wrong side and knit 1 row from the right side. Then work 3 rows rib before loosely casting off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sew the left shoulder seam and continue up along edge of neck - edge of neck is sewn in outermost loop of outermost stitch.

Armhole edges: Knit up 44 to 62 stitches (divisible by 6 + 2) around the armhole with needle size 9 mm and 2 strands Vivaldi. Knit 1 row from the wrong side and knit 1 row from the right side. Then work 3 rows rib with 1 edge stitch in each side before loosely casting off in rib. Repeat around the other armhole.

Sew side seams and armhole edge inside the 1 edge stitch.

Scarf:

Measurements: approx. 15 x 150 cm (without fringes)

Materials: Karisma Superwash
100 g colour no 05, black
and use: Italian Velvet
100 g colour no 08, blue beige

DROPS Crochet hook size 4.5 mm.
--------------------------------------------------------

Crochet tension: Remember hook size is only a guide.
6 squares in width and 9 rows in height with hook size 4.5 mm and Karisma = 10 x 10 cm.

NOTE: Due to different crochet techniques, the crochet tension can vary from person to person; you can increase or decrease a hook size if necessary to get the right tension.
---------------------------------------------------------

Scarf: Work 39 loose chain stitches (incl. 5 chain stitches to turn) with hook size 4.5 mm and Karisma. The first row is worked as follows: Crochet 1 treble crochet in the 7th chain stitch from the hook, * 2 chain stitches, skip 3 chain stitches, 1 treble crochet in next chain stitch *, repeat from *-* to end of row = 9 squares, turn piece. Continue working as follows: 5 chain stitches (= 1 treble crochet + 2 chain stitches), * 1 treble crochet in next treble crochet, 2 chain stitches *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 treble crochet in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of row = 9 squares, turn piece. When piece measures approx. 150 cm or to desired length cut the strand.

Tassels: Cut 9 lengths of Italian Velvet of 210 cm each. Thread each length alternately up and down through the holes in each row lengthwise on scarf. Place the lengths so that there is a 30 cm fringe in each side. You can sew a zigzag-seam by machine through all layers in each short side to keep everything in place.
