Bon tricot!

Hi can you clarify whether a traditional cast off or using K2tog is required when the instructions say "cast off on every other row 3 sts evenly distributed a total of 6 times". The Pattern Instruction guidance says to decrease using K2tog but you've used the instruction phrase to "cast off evenly on the row". Cast off is not the same as decreasing so I am finding this contradictory, can you tell me which it is?
05.10.2019 - 15:28DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jan, you are right, the phrasing might be a little confusing. If you decrease or cast of a number of stitches in the row evenly distributed, that means you have to knit the stitches together, or decrease. We are sorry for the misunderstanding. Happy crafting!

I think there is an error in the pattern. I'm doing the medium size 'cast on 36', but when there is a bind off 5 stitches per next 2 rows the total end stitch count is off. It says 28. Wouldn't it be 26 if you take off 10?
30.12.2014 - 19:56DROPS Design answered:
Dear Amber, you are correct, in medium size you should have 26 sts remaining after binding off 5 sts each side - pattern will be edited. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot !

Knitted slippers with pompons in Snow

Knitting Tension: 12 sts x 20 rows on needles size 7 mm in seed sts = 10 x 10 cm. Moss sts: 1st row: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*. 2nd row: *K over P and P over K*, repeat from *-*. Rpeat the 2nd row. Garter sts: Knit all rows. Decreasing tips: All decreases are done from the RS. Decrease as follows: K 2 tog. The slippers are knitted from the heel, back on forth on row. Cast on 34-36-40 sts on needle size 7 mm in Snow no 17 and knit moss sts – see explanation above. When the piece measures 11-12-14 cm cast off 5-5-6 sts loosely each side = 24-26-28 sts. Continue in garter sts until finished measurements. When the piece measures 17-20-23 cm cast off on every other row 3 sts evenly distributed a total of 6 times = 6-8-10 sts – see decreasing tips. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts. The piece measures approx 22-25-28 cm. Assembly: Sew the seam at the centre of the top of the foot (from the toe until the leg begins), sew edge against edge with small invisible sts. Sew the seam at the back the same way. Pompons: Make 2 small pompons in off white Snow approx. 5 cm in diameter. Sew the pompons to each corner of the leg at the centre front. |
