Pattern instructions

Pattern: See diagram. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS and the entire pattern is worked in stocking st.
Rib: *K1 into back of loop, P1*, repeat from *-*.

Body: The jacket is worked in the round on circular needle after the Rib and cut mid front and for armholes afterwards. Numbers in ( ) refer to men’s sizes. Cast on 168-174-178 (180-190) sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm with off-white and work 6 cm Rib back and forth on needle. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and continue in the round and stocking st, at the same time inc 60-66-74 (60-62) sts evenly on first round + 5 sts mid front – these 5 sts are to be cut afterwards and are not included in pattern = 228-240-252 (240-252) sts + 5 sts for cutting. Work pattern – see diagram. When piece measures 32-31-32 (36-37) cm inc 5 sts each side (to be cut for armhole and not included in pattern). When piece measures 56-56-58 (60-62) cm cast off the middle 38-38-40 (36-36) sts + the 5 sts for cutting on front piece for neck and complete piece back and forth on needle. Cast off to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 2 times for all sizes. When piece measures 59-59-61 (63-65) cm, cast off the middle 44-44-46 (42-42) sts on back piece and dec 1 st on neckline on next row. Cast off remaining sts when piece measures 60-60-62 (64-66) cm.
Sleeve: Cast on 48-50-50 (50-52) sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with off-white and work 5 cm Rib. Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm and continue in pattern, at the same time inc 13-11-11 (11-9) sts evenly on first round = 61-61-61 (61-61) sts. Now inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 26-28-29 (26-28) times on every * 4th, 4th and 5th round* alternately for ladies size S, on every 4th round for ladies size M, on every *3rd and 4th round * alternately for ladies size L, and on every * 4th and 5th round* alternately for men’s sizes S/M and M/L = 113-117-119 (113-117) sts. When piece measures 50-49-48 (54-53) cm work 5 rounds in reverse stocking st (for sewing sleeve to body piece). Cast off.
Assembly: Insert a marking thread in the middle of the inc sts for armhole and mid front. Sew 2 seams on a sewing machine around the marking thread, 1st seam = ½ st from the MT, 2nd seam = ½ st from the 1st seam. Cut for armhole and mid front. Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx 110 sts along left front piece on needle size 2.5 mm with off-white and work 3 cm stocking st, P 1 row (= folding edge), 3 cm stocking st, cast off and fold edge double towards WS over the cut edge and fasten. Repeat along right front piece but after 1 cm make 6 buttonholes evenly distributed. 1 buttonhole = cast off 3 sts and cast on 3 new sts on return row – remember buttonholes on the piece in stocking sts to be folded towards WS! Pick up approx 100 sts round the neck on needle size 2.5 mm with off-white and work 6 cm Rib, cast off. Set in sleeves as follows: sew the last row in stocking st on sleeves to row after machine seam on armhole. Turn jumper inside out and fasten piece in reverse stocking st on sleeve to body piece.
Sew on buttons.
