Gauge: 11 sts x 16 rows with 3 strands on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm.

Rib: *K 3, P 3 , repeat from *-*.

Pattern: See the chart. The pattern is seen from the right side.

Front: Cast on 53-56-59-65-68 sts on smaller needles with 1 strand of each color (= 3 strands). Knit 2 rows stockinette st and then knit rib as follows:
Sizes 12/14 years + L + XL: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), *K 3, P 3*, repeat from *-* and finish with K 3 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st).
Sizes S/M + XXL: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), *K 3, P 3*, repeat from *-* and finish with K 1 (edge st knit in garter st).
When the piece measures 5-7-7-7-7 cm change to larger needles and stockinette st, adjusting (inc/dec) to 51-55-60-64-69 sts on the 1st row.
When the piece measures 12 cm inc 1 st at each side every 8-10-11-12-12 cm a total of 3 times = 57-61-66-70-75 sts.
When the piece measures 35-43-44-45-46 cm bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-0-0-1-2 times and 1 st 2-1-3-3-3 times = 43-53-54-54-55 sts.
When the piece measures 40-47-48-49-50 cm knit Pattern 1, and then knit reverse stockinette st to finished measurements.
When the piece measures 51-60-62-64-66 cm bind off the center 9-9-10-10-11 sts for the neck. Then bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 1 time = 12-17-17-17-17 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 56-66-68-70-72 cm.

Back: Cast on as on front and knit 2 rows stockinette st, then knit rib as follows:
Sizes 12/14 years + L + XL: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), *P 3, K 3*, repeat * -* and finish with P 3 and K 1 (edge st knit in garter st).
Sizes S/M + XXL: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st), *K 3, P 3*, repeat *-* and finish with K 1 (edge st knit in garter st).
When the piece measures 5-7-7-7-7 cm continue as on front. Bind off for armhole as on front. When the piece measures 54-64-66-68-70 cm bind off the center 17-17-18-18-19 sts for the neck. On the next row dec 1 st at each neck edge = 12-17-17-17-17 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 56-66-68-70-72 cm.

Sleeve: Cast on 26-26-26-32-32 sts on smaller needles with 1 strand of each color (= 3 strands). Knit 2 rows stockinette st, then knit rib, keeping 1 edge st at each side in garter st. When the piece measures 7-9-9-9-9 cm change to larger needles and stockinette st. When the piece measures 13-12-13-12-13 cm inc 1 st at each side every 3.5-3.5-3-4-3.5 cm a total of 9-11-12-10-11 times = 44-48-50-52-54 sts. At the same time when the piece measures 39-40-41-41-41 cm knit Pattern 1, and then knit reverse stockinette st to finished measurements.
When sleeve measures 45-49-49-50-51 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-1-2-2-2 times and 1 st 3-1-1-3-4 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 54-55-57-60-62 cm, then bind off 3 sts at each side 1 time. Bind off the remaining sts, the piece measures approx. 55-56-58-61-63 cm.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: Pick up and knit 54 or 60 sts (divisible by 6) around the neck on smaller double-pointed needles with 1 strand of each color (= 3 strands); join and place a marker at the join. P 1 row and K 1 row, then knit rib. When the rib measures 5-5-6-6-7 cm knit 2 rows stockinette st and bind off.
Sew in sleeves Sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance.

Ellen Jakub 24.01.2015 - 04:08:

What length DPN would you recommend? I anticipate picking up sixty stitches for the neckband and will use a set of 5 DPNs.

DROPS Design 24.01.2015 kl. 09:53:

Dear Mrs Jakub, our double pointed needles are all 20 cm long - see here. Happy knitting!

Susan Berlin 04.01.2014 - 21:50:

I want to use this pattern, but in the photo, the type of neck is obscured by the placement of the scarf. Is it a round neck, a v-neck or...? Thanks. Great design!

DROPS Design 06.01.2014 kl. 09:26:

Dear Mrs Berlin, this sweater has a round neck - you'll find all measurements in cm in the chart at the end of the pattern, this may help you. Happy knitting!

Ginot 13.11.2013 - 22:55:

Merci, Bon tricot!
