Pattern instructions

Pattern: See diagram. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS.
Diamond pattern: P3 tog and leave st on left needle, K tog the same 3 sts and leave st on needle, P them tog and leave st on right needle. Work sts till next diamond in pattern.
Garter st pattern: *K 3 rounds, P 2 rounds*, repeat from *-*.

Body: The jumper is worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 210-220 sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm and work 4 cm garter st pattern. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm and continue in Diamond pattern (see above), at the same time inc 20-20 sts evenly on first round = 230-240 sts. At the same time inc 2 sts each side (115 sts between inc) a total of 6-8 times on every 9-8 round (= 4 inc sts per round) = 254-272 sts. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 25-27cm cast off 6 sts each side for armhole and complete front and back pieces separately.
Back piece: = 121-130 sts. Dec to shape the armhole each side on every other row: 3 sts 0-1 time, 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 5 times = 107-110 sts. When piece measures 55-57 cm cast off the middle 45-46 sts for neck and dec 1 st on neckline on next row. Cast off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 56-58 cm.

Front piece: = 121-130 sts. Dec for armhole as described for back piece. At the same time when piece measures 29-31cm cast off the middle 5-6 sts for neck and complete each side separately. When piece measures 49-51 cm dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 4 sts 2 times, 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 times and 1 st 4 times. Cast off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 56-58 cm.

Sleeve: Cast on 48-52 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and work 4 cm garter st pattern. Change to needle size 3.5 mm and continue in Diamond pattern, at the same time inc 12-8 sts evenly on first round = 60-60 sts. At the same time after the garter st pattern inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 39-40 times on every 3rd round = 138-140 sts. When piece measures 48-48 cm cast off 12 sts mid under arm and complete piece back and forth on needle. Dec to shape the sleeve cap on every other row: 6 sts 2 times, 4 sts 6 times, and cast off remaining sts. Piece measures approx 54 cm.

Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx 44 sts along left front piece on needle size 2.5 mm and work 2.5 cm stocking st, P 1 row, 2.5 cm stocking st. Fold edge double towards WS and fasten. Repeat along right front band but after 1 cm make 3 buttonholes evenly distributed. 1 buttonhole = cast off 3 sts and cast on 3 new sts on return row – remember buttonholes on piece in stocking st to be folded towards WS!
Collar: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 360 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm and K 2 rows, P 1 row. Continue in pattern as follows: pattern (see Monster diagram below) on the first 340 sts and Tillegg (see Tillegg diagram below) on the last 20 sts. Work pattern as follows: row 1 work diagram from right to left, row 2 work diagram from left to right. Repeat row 1 and 2. After 12 rows change to needle size 3 mm, at the same time dec 2 sts each side by K tog the 4 outermost sts 2 by 2 = 356 sts. Work 12 rows pattern, change to needle size 2.5 mm, at the same time inc 2 sts each side by K 2 sts in the outermost 2 sts each side = 360 sts. After the last pattern row work 1.5 cm stocking st, at the same time dec to 125 sts evenly on first row. Work next row as follows: *K2 tog, 1 YO*, repeat from *-* (= folding edge) and then work 1.5 cm stocking st. Cast off and fold stocking st edge double towards WS and fasten.
Set in sleeves and sew on buttons.
