Knitting gauge: 17 sts x 21 rows on needle size 5 mm / US 8 in stockinette st = 4'' x 4'' (10 x 10 cm)

Seed st: First row: K1, P1. Second row: P over K and K over P. Repeat second row.

Pattern: The diagram shows the pattern from the RS side.

Back piece:
Cast on 78-80-84 sts on needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with blue and work 5 cm / 2'' seed st. Change to needle size 5 mm / US 8, at the same time inc 27-31-33 sts evenly on first row = 105-11-117 sts. Work next row as follows: 28-31-34 sts of M.1, M.2, 29 stockinette sts, M.2, 28-31-34 sts of M.1. Continue like this. Remember the knitting gauge. When piece measures 59-60-61 cm bind off the middle 49-49-49 sts for neck and dec 2 sts on neckline on next row. Bind off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 61-62-63 cm.

Front piece: Cast on and work like back piece, but after 1-2-3 cm work M.3 instead of the middle 29 stockinette st. Continue until there are 3 vertical repeats of pattern (3 roses) – do not work beg of the next rose on the last 5 rows of pattern repeat. Continue in stockinette st on the middle sts after the 3rd rose until piece measures 43-44-45 cm. Now bind off 25 sts mid front for neck and bind off to shape the neckline on every other and every 3rd row alternately: 1 st 14 times. Cast of remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 61-62-63 cm.

Sleeves: Cast on 38-40-40 sts on needle size 3 .5 mm with blue and work 5 cm / 2'' seed st. Change to needle size 5 mm / US 8, at the same time inc 19 sts evenly on first row = 57-59-59 sts. Work next row as follows: 4-5-5 sts of M.1, M.2, 29 stockinette sts, M.2, 4-5-5 sts of M.1. Continue like this, at the same time inc 1 st each side on every 3rd row a total of 26-25-26 times = 109-109-111 sts. When piece measures 28-27-26 cm work a rose from M.3 on the middle 29 sts (do not work the beg of the next rose on the last 5 rows of pattern). Then continue in stockinette sts on the 29 sts. When sleeve measures 46-45-44 cm bind off for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 8 sts 4 times, bind off. Sleeve measures 50-49-48 cm.

Assembly: Join shoulders. Pick up approx 140 sts round the neck on needle size 4 mm / US 6 with blue (do not pick up on the 25 bind off sts mid front), work M.5 and then 7 cm / 2¾'' of M.4, at the same time, from the beg, inc 1 st at the beg and 1 st at the end of every row, and 1 st on both sides of middle st on back on every 4th row – incorporate the inc sts in pattern as you go along. After 7 cm / 2¾'' of M.4 work 1 cm / 3/8'' seed st and bind off. Fasten collar mid front. Set in sleeves and sew side and sleeve seams.
