Pattern instructions

Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows.
Pattern: See diagram. The diagram shows the pattern from the right side. English explanations to pattern diagram are given at the bottom of this page.

Front piece: Cast on 102-108-112 sts on needle size 2.5 mm with red Chenille and work 4 rows garter st – see above. Slip 4 sts each side on a stitch holder for split and continue in pattern on remaining sts, at the same time inc 1 st each side for seam on first row. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 12 cm inc 4 sts each side = 104-110-114 sts (includes 2 edge sts). Continue in pattern. When piece measures 52-54-57 cm cast off for armhole each side on every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2-3-3 times, 1 st 2 times = 86-88-92 sts. When piece measures 69-72-75 cm cast off the middle 16-16-18 sts for neck and complete each side separately. Cast off to shape the neckline at the beg of every row from mid front: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 3 times. Cast off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 75-78-81 cm.

Back piece: Cast on and work as described for front piece and cast off for armhole each side as described for front piece. When piece measures 73-76-79 cm cast off the middle 30-30-32 sts for neck and complete each side separately. Cast off to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 1 time. Cast off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 75-78-81 cm.

Sleeve: Cast on 100 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 2.5 mm with red Chenille and work 4 rows garter st. Continue in pattern, at the same time dec 5 sts evenly on row on every 2 cm a total of 7 times = 65 sts. When piece measures 18 cm inc 1 st each side on every 8th and 9th row alternately for size S and on every 6th and 7th row alternately for size M + XL a total of 10-12-12 times = 87-91-91 sts. When piece measures 47-46-45 cm cast off for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 3 sts 2 times, 2 sts 4 times, 1 st 6-8-7 times, 2 sts 4-4-3 times and 3 sts 2 times. Cast off remaining sts, piece measures approx 59 cm.

Assembly:
Split: slip the 4 sts from stitch holder back on needle size 2.5 mm and work garter st with red Chenille, at the same time inc 1 st towards body piece for seam on first row. Cast off when split measures 12 cm from bottom edge of jumper. Sew split to body piece. Repeat the other side.
Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx 88-96 sts round neckline on needle size 2.5 mm with red Chenille and work 3 cm pattern, 4 rows garter sts in red Chenille and cast off loosely. Set in sleeves and sew side and sleeve seam inside 1 edge st.
