SWEATER:

Knitting Gauge: 14 sts on needles size 12 mm knitted in blackberry pattern = width 10 cm, 8 sts on needles size 12 mm knitted in stocking sts = width 10 cm.

Blackberry pattern: See diagram M.1
NB: First row is knitted from the wrong side.

Rib: *K3, P3*, repeat from *-*

Measurement tips: Stretch the garment a little width-wise before measuring, so the sweater won't become too short.

Front piece: Cast on 42-48-54-60-66 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st each side – all seam sts are knitted in garter st) using 2 needles size 12 with Ull-flame’ (the reason for using both needles is to make the edge more stretchy). Remove one needle and purl 1 row from the wrong side, knit next row. Knit the following row as follows from the wrong side: 1 edge st, K2, M.1 over the following 35-42-48-54-60 sts, K2, 1 edge st (the 2 sts within the edge sts both side are knitted in garter sts, but K from the wrong side and P from the right side). Remember to check your knitting gauge! When piece measures 10 cm - read measurement tips - inc 1 st each side on every 5 cm a total of 4 times = 50-56-62-68-74 sts (knit all new sts in garter sts as described above, i.e. K from the wrong side and P from the right side). After the last inc, knit M.1 over all sts with edge sts each side in garter sts. When piece measures 35-36-37-38-39 cm bind off 0-3-4-7-10 sts each side for armhole (for size XS/S insert a marking thread at this point)= 50-50-54-54-54 sts. Continue as follows: 1 edge st, 0-3-2-5-5 garter sts (K from wrong side, P from right side), M.1 over the next 48-42-48-42-42 sts, 0-3-2-5-5 garter sts(K from wrong side, P from right side), 1 edge st. When piece measures approx 47-49-51-52-54 cm - remember measurement tips, bind off the centre 18 sts from the right side for collar. Bind off at each neck edge on every other row 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 1 times = 13-13-15-15-15 sts left for shoulder (continue to knit M.1 as before, but knit all sts not fitting into pattern in garter sts, i.e. K from wrong side, P from right side). Cast off from the right side when piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm.

Back piece: Cast on and knit as described for front piece until piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm - remember measurement tips. Now continue from the right side as follows: bind off the centre 22 sts for collar and dec 1 st on next row at each neck edge = 13-13-15-15-15 sts left for shoulder (continue to knit M.1 as before, but knit all sts not fitting into pattern in garter sts, i.e. K from wrong side, P from right side). Cast off from the right side when piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm.

Sleeve: Cast on 32-32-38-38-38 sts (inclusive of 1 seam st either side) on needles size 12 in Ull-flame’. P 1 row from the wrong side. Continue in Rib (see above) with 1 edge st in garter st each side. When sleeve measures 16 cm - next row should start from the wrong side- continue as follows: 1 edge st, M.1 over the following 30-30-36-36-36 sts, 1 edge st. When sleeve measures 18-18-19-18-19 cm inc 1 st each side on every 4-3-3.5-2.5-2 cm a total of 10-11-9-11-12 times = 52-54-56-60-62 sts. NB: all new sts are knitted in garter sts as described above(K from the wrong side and P from the right side until they fit into M.1). When sleeve measures 57-52-51-46-43 cm insert a marking thread each side(marks the start of the sleeve cap). When sleeve measure 57-56-56-55-56 cm bind off the remaining sts loosely. Knit the other sleeve.

Assembly: Sew the right shoulder seam.

Collar: Pick up 32-38 sts from the right side around the neck on needles size 12 in Ull flame’ and knit 4 rows in stocking sts (1st row = P from wrong side) Bind off loosely –to avoid the edge of the neck being too tight make a yo every 5 sts at the same time you bind off (the yo is bound off as a st). Sew left shoulder seam and up along the collar. Sew the sleeves together in the seam up to the marking thread, sew the side seams. Now set in the sleeves.

SCARF:

Size: Approx. 14 x 80 cm

Materials: DROPS Ull-Flame from Garnstudio
100 g colour no. 01, off-white.
and use: DROPS Alaska from Garnstudio
50 g colour no. 01, off-white (for pom-poms)

Knitting Gauge: 14 sts on needles size 12 mm knitted in blackberry pattern = width 10 cm.

Blackberry pattern: See diagram M.1
Note: First row is knitted from the wrong side

English explanations to the pattern diagram
= Purl from the right side
= Knit 5 sts. in 1 st. as follows: K1, P1, K1, P1, K1
= Purl 5 sts. tog. If that is too hard to do, then P2 tog, P2 tog - lift st no 2 on the right needle over st no 1, P1 and lift st no 2 on the right needle over st no 1.

Scarf: Cast on 20 sts using both needles size 12 with Ull-flame’(the reason for using both needles is to make the edge more stretchy). Knit 2 rows of stocking sts. Continue knitting M.1 with 1 edge st each side(edge sts are always knitted in garter sts) When the scarf measures approx. 79 cm knit 2 rows of garter sts. Bind off loosely –to avoid the edge being too tight make a yo every 5 sts at the same time you bind off (the yo is knitted as a st).

Pom-pom: Make 1 pom-pom with Alaska yarn. The pom-pom should be 5-6 cm in diameter. Sew a small safety pin on the back of the pom-pom so it can be used to hold the scarf together.

Diagram

= P from RS
= Work 5 sts in 1 st as follows: K1, P1, K1, P1, K1
= P5 tog, tighten thread. Alternatively, if this is difficult: P2 tog, P tog the next 2 sts, pass 2nd st on right needle over the first st, P1 and pass 2nd st over the first st again.
