Pattern instructions

Pattern: See diagram M.1 to M.3. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS side.

Edge: Work 3 cm off-white stocking st, change to blue, P 1 row (= folding edge, measure piece from here), 1 row stocking st, change to off-white and work 3 cm stocking

BODY
The jacket is knitted round on circular needle after the Edge and cut mid front afterwards. Cast on 188-200 sts on circular needles size 2.5 mm with off-white and work Edge – see above – back and forth on needle. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and continue in the round and M.1, at the same time inc 46-52 sts evenly on first round + 5 sts mid front – these 5 sts are to be cut afterwards and are not included in pattern = 234-252 (+ 5 sts for cutting). Remember the knitting tension! After M.1 work M.2, and then continue in off-white. When piece measures 31-32 cm cast off 4 sts each side for armhole (make sure to have the 5 inc sts mid front) = 114-122 + 5 sts on front piece and 112-122 sts on back piece. Now complete each piece separately.

Front piece: = 114-122 sts (+ 5 sts). Dec to shape the armhole on every other row: 2 sts 2-3 times and 1 st 2-3 times = 102-104 sts (+ 5 sts). When piece measures 32.5-33.5 cm work M.3, M.2 and then continue in off-white.
When piece measures 48-50 cm cast off 5 sts mid front not worked into pattern, and then cast off to shape the neckline in beg of every row each side: 8 sts 1 time, 2 sts 4 times and 1 st 4 times.
At the same time when piece measures 52-54 cm work M.3 and then complete piece in off-white. Cast off when piece measures 58-60 cm.

Back piece: = 112-122 sts. Continue in pattern and dec for armhole as described for front piece = 100-104 sts. When piece measures 56-58 cm cast off the middle 34-36 sts for neck and dec 2 sts on neckline on next row. Cast off when piece measures 58-60 cm.

Sleeve: Cast on 48-48 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with off-white and work Edge. Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm, continue in M.1 (make sure to place a pattern repeat mid upper sleeve) and inc 6-8 sts evenly on first round = 54-56 sts. At the same time after the Edge inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 27-28 times on every 3rd and 4th round alternately = 108-112 sts. After M.1 work M.2 and then continue in off-white. When piece measures 41-42 cm slip 6 sts mid under arm on a thread and continue back and forth on needle. Slip sts on thread each side to shape the sleeve cap on every other row: 5 sts 5 times. Now slip all sts from thread back on needle and continue in M.3 in the round (continue inc mid under arm). After M.3, work 1 round in off-white and cast off. Sleeve measures approx 51-52 cm.

Assembly: Insert a marking thread from top to bottom in the centre of the inc sts mid front. Sew 2 seams on a sewing machine around the marking thread, 1st seam = ½ st from the MT, 2nd seam = ½ st from the 1st seam. Cut mid front. Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx 80-90 sts along left front piece on needle size 2.5 mm with off-white and work stocking st back and forth on needle as follows: 1 row off-white, 1 row blue, 2 cm off-white, 1 row blue, P 1 row blue (= folding edge), 3 cm off-white, cast off. Repeat along right front piece, but after 1 cm make 6 buttonholes evenly distributed. 1 buttonhole = cast off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts on return row – remember buttonholes on the piece in stocking sts to be folded towards WS! Pick up approx 100-106 sts round the neck on needle size 2.5 mm with blue and work stocking sts back and forth on needle as follows: 2 rows blue, 1 row yellow, 2 rows off-white, P 1 row in off-white (= folding edge), 5 rows stocking st in off-white, cast off. Fold all edges double towards the WS and fasten. Set in sleeves and sew on buttons.

This pattern has been corrected. .

Front piece: .... When piece measures 48-50 cm cast off 5 sts mid front not worked into pattern, and then cast off to shape the neckline in beg of every row each side: 8 sts 1 time, 2 sts 4 times and 1 st 4 times.
