Pattern instructions

Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows.
Garter st, in the round: K1 round, P 1 round.

Front and back piece: Worked back and forth on circular needle from mid front. Cast on 148-156 sts on needle size 6 mm with Vienna and work 2 rows garter st – see above. Continue in stocking st. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 4-6 cm work M.3, 3 rows black Vienna and then work next row as follows: 3 black sts, M.2, 84-92 black sts, M.2, 3 black sts. Continue in pattern like this, at the same time when piece measures 23-24 cm work next row as follows: 36-38 sts on front piece, cast off 2 sts for armhole, 72-76 sts on back piece, cast off 2 sts for armhole, 36-38 sts on front piece. Now complete each piece separately.

Front piece: = 36-38 sts. Cast off to shape the armhole at the side on every other row: 2 sts 0-1 time, 1 st 2-1 time = 34-35 sts. When piece measures 42-44 cm cast off to shape the neckline at the beg of every row from mid front: 8 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 1 time. Cast off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 48-50 cm.

Back piece: = 72-76 sts. Cast off to shape the armhole each side as described for front piece = 68-70 sts. When piece measures 46-48 cm cast off the middle 22 sts for neck and cast off 2 sts on neckline on next row. Cast off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 48-50 cm.

Sleeve: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 34 sts on needle size 6 mm with Vienna and work 2 rows garter st. Continue in stocking st. When piece measures 4 cm inc 2 sts mid under arm on every 3rd round a total of 18-19 times = 70-72 sts. When piece measures 37-38 cm work M.1 (place a pattern repeat mid upper sleeve), at the same time when piece measures 45-46 cm cast off 2 sts mid under arm and complete piece back and forth on needle. Cast off for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 10 sts 2 times. After M.1 work 2 rows black stocking st and cast off remaining sts. Piece measures approx 50 cm.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx 80 sts round neckline on needle size 6 mm with black Vienna and work 2 rows garter st back and forth on needle, cast off. Crochet 3 rows of dc along left front piece with crochet hook size 3.5 mm and black Vienna (approx 80 dc per row). Repeat along right front piece, but on second row make 6 buttonholes evenly distributed. 1 buttonhole = 1 ch instead of 1 dc. Crochet a border along bottom edge, round sleeve edges and neckline with crochet hook size 3.5 mm and black Vienna as follows: 1 dc, * 4 ch, 2 tr in first ch, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next st *, repeat from *-*. Set in sleeves. Sew on buttons.
