DROPS circular needle size 4 mm - or size needed to get 14 sts x 26 rows in stocking st on needle size 4 mm with Cotton Chenille = 10 x 10 cm.
DROPS crochet hook size 3.5 mm
DROPS buttons, no 514, 5 pcs.

Pattern instructions

PLEASE NOTE:
Picture shows jacket in Cotton Chenille. If knitting the jacket in Vienna, please note the following:
Needle size 6 mm instead of 4 mm.
Knitting tension: 14 sts x 16 rows on needle size 6 mm in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm.
Inc/dec: replace on every other row with “on every and every other row alternately”. Replace on every 5th row with “on every 8th row”. Replace on every 4th and 5th row alternately with “on every 7th row”.

Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows.
Garter st, in the round: K1 round, P 1 round.
Buttonholes: Make buttonholes on right front piece when piece measures: 1-1-1 cm, 9.5-10-10 cm, 18-19-19 cm, 26.5-28-28 cm and 35-37-37 cm. 1 buttonhole: cast off 3rd and 4th st from mid front and cast on 2 new sts on return row.
Pattern, body piece (as seen from RS): * 3 rows stocking st, P 1 row *, repeat from *-*.
Pattern, sleeve (as seen from RS): * 5 rows stocking st, P1 row *, repeat from *-*.

Front and back piece: Worked back and forth on circular needle from mid front. Cast on 160-166-178 sts on needle size 4 mm and work 8 rows garter st – see above. Remember buttonholes on right front piece – see above. Continue in pattern – see above, with 5 garter sts each side (= front bands). Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 21-23-22 cm work next row as follows: 40-42-45 sts on front piece, cast off 4 sts for armhole, 72-74-80 sts on back piece, cast off 4 sts for armhole, 40-42-45 sts on front piece. Now complete each piece separately.

Front piece: = 40-42-45 sts. Cast off to shape the armhole at the side on every other row: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 0-1-2 times = 38-39-41 sts. When piece measures 36-38-38 cm cast off to shape the neckline at the beg of every row from mid front: 6-7-7 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 3 times and then on every other row from mid front: 1 st 2 times. Cast off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 46-48-48 cm.

ack piece: = 72-74-80 sts. Cast off to shape the armhole each side as described for front piece = 68-68-72 sts. When piece measures 44-44-46 cm cast off the middle 18 sts for neck and cast off 2 sts on neckline on next row. Cast off remaining sts on shoulder when piece measures 46-48-48 cm.

Sleeve: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 32-32-32 sts on needle size 4 mm and work 8 rows garter st. Continue in pattern – see above. When piece measures 6 cm inc 1 st each side on every 5th row for size S + M, and on * every 4th and 5th row * alternately for size L a total of 19-19-20 times = 70-70-72 sts. When piece measures 46 cm cast off for sleeve cap each side on every other row: 4 sts 6 times and cast off remaining sts. Piece measures approx 51 cm.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx 70 sts round neckline on needle size 4 mm and work 6 rows garter st back and forth on needle, cast off. Crochet a border along bottom edge with crochet hook size 3.5 mm as follows: 1 dc, * 4 ch, 1 dc in 3rd ch, 2 tr in 2nd ch, skip 2 sts, 1 dc in next st *, repeat from *-*. Sew sleeve seam and set in sleeves. Sew on buttons to fit buttonholes.
