Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. Gauge: 20 sts and 26 rows on larger needles in stockinette
stitch = 10 x 10 cm [4»x4»]

Crochet gauge: 13 dc with double yarn = 10 cm[4»].

Pattern: See chart. One chart equals one repeat of the pattern. Pattern is knit entirely in stockinette stitch.

Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.
Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: *Row 1, knit. Row 2, purl. Repeat from *. One «ridge» equals two rows.

Body: Cast on 232 (248-260) sts on smaller circular needles with Violet. Join, being careful not to twist the sts. Place a marker at the join and knit 2 rows of Garter Stitch. Change to larger circular needles and begin Pattern 1. When the work measures 48 (51-53) cm [18-7/8" (20-1/8"-20-7/8")], knit the next row as follows: Bind off 3 sts for armhole, knit 110 (118-124) sts front, bind off 6 sts for armhole, knit 110 (118-124) sts back, bind off 3 sts for armhole. Knit the rest of each part separately from this point.

Front: 110 (118-124) sts. Bind off for armholes every other row: 3 sts 1 (2-2) times, 2 sts 3 (3-4) times, 1 st 5 (5-5) times. 82 (84-86) sts. When the work measures 61 (64-67) cm [24» (25.25"-26-3/8")], bind off the center 6 sts for the neck. Then bind off at the neck edge every other row: 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 6 times, and every 4th row: 1 st 1 (2-2) times. Bind off all sts when the work measures 73 (76-79) cm [28.75" (29-7/8"-31-1/8")].

Back: 110 (118-124) sts. Then bind off for armholes as on the front = 82 (84-86) sts. When the work measures 71 (74-77) cm [28» (29 1/8» - 30 7/8»)], bind off the center 28 (30-30) sts for the neck. Then bind off 2 sts on each side for the neck. Bind off all sts when the work measures 73 (76-79) cm [28.75" (29-7/8"-31-1/8")].

Sleeves: Cast on 44 (44-46) sts on smaller double pointed needles with Violet. Join, being careful not to twist the sts. Place a marker at the join and knit 2 rows in Garter Stitch. Change to larger double pointed needles and begin Pattern 2. At the same time, when the work measures 6 cm [2-3/8"], inc 1 st on each side of the marker 28 (28-29) times every 3rd row. 100 (100-104) sts. When the work measures 42.5 (42-41) cm [16-5/8" (16.5»-16-1/8")], bind off 3 sts on each side of the marker and knit the rest back and forth on needle. Bind off for sleeve caps on each side every other row:
Size S: 2 sts 11 times, 4 sts 2 times.
Size M: 2 sts 12 times, 3 sts 3 times.
Size L: 2 sts 14 times, 3 sts 2 times.
Bind off all sts. The work measures approximately 53 (54-54) cm [20-7/8" (21.25"-21.25")].

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approximately 100-110 sts around the neck on smaller circular needles with Violet and knit 2 rows in Garter Stitch. Bind off all sts.

Crochet border: Crochet with violet double yarn from the right side as follows: 1 row of approximately 110-128 dc around the lower edge of the body. Then work a row of dc in the opposite direction, that is to say, from left to right without turning the work. Work dc from the right side into each dc from the previous row. Repeat both rows around the sleeve edge over approximately 24-26 dc and around the neck over approximately 60-65 dc. Sew on the sleeves.
