\r\n\r\nMarine

Hello! I want to knit this hat, but can you please help me understand what does the column on the left, near A3 (M/L) mean?
09.01.2024 - 14:00DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Avram, the last 3 sts in diagram will continue to be worked as shown (P1, K1, P1) all the way while you decrease as shown in the diagram. So the whole diagram consists of the both parts including the last 3 sts. Happy knitting!

Merci.

What does the sentence mean" when A3 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 20 stitches on needles" When I look at diagram, 20 stitches are reached at about 1/3 of diagram height. Thank you

Dear Lynn, before working A.3 there are 124-132 sts on needle, then you work A.3 a total of 4 times in the round, when A.3 is done, there are 5 sts in each A.3 x 4 repeats = 20 sts on needle. Happy knitting!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.3). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on a short circular needle, bottom up. Switch to double pointed needles when needed. HAT: Cast on 144-150 stitches on circular needle size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 with DROPS Alpaca. Work A.1 over all stitches. When piece measures 6 cm = 2 3/8", work A.2 over all stitches. When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically, work A.1 over all stitches. When 2 cm = 3/4" rib has been worked over last eyelet row, switch to circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5. Knit 1 round and decrease 20-18 stitches evenly = 124-132 stitches. Work in stockinette stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When piece measures 18-19 cm = 7"-7 1/2", work A.3 over all stitches. When A.3 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 20 stitches on needles. Knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 10 stitches. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Hat measures approx. 26-27 cm = 10 1/4"-10 5/8". |

This turned out to be a very nice project for me to knit. The pattern matched perfectly even though I read some comments here about the final result not being the expected one. I have now a beautiful and cozy spring beanie :) Have fun knitting it!
