What do you mean, decrease until finished length? What length? Where do I measure from and to to get a finished length?
21.01.2024 - 04:23DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Rumble, you decrease on every row from RS until you reach the measurement to cast off, ie until foot section measures (2½) 3-3-4-5 (5-5) cm from the stitches picked up. Happy knitting!

Hello. On the “FOOT” section I cannot figure out how to knit up the 11 stitches along side of the mid-piece. I have nearly given up but thought I would ask you for help. This is my first attempt at knitting baby booties. I have viewed you YouTube videos and other YouTube videos with no success in figuring it out. Hopefully you can direct me. Thank you very much.

Dear Joni, to knit up you need to pick up a stitch and then knit it. We start working with the right needle; first we start with the stitches in the thread. Then, with the right needle, pick up the stitches from the side. Now, we can work the middle stitches in the left needle, now pick up stitches again and then work the stitches in the 2nd thread. If you can't work the stitches on the thread/ auxiliary needle, first pass them over to the left needle and then work them. Happy knitting!

\"Knit 1, knit 2 together, knit until there are 3 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2, knit 2 together, knit until there are 3 stitches left, knit 2 together and knit 1.\" DO I decrease over all sts or only before the marking? \r\nHow many st should be there be left by the time I finish\"?
27.04.2023 - 00:28DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sba, you will decrease 4 stitches on every row from right side: 1 stitch after the first stitch, 1 stitch before the 2 middle stitches (1 stitch before marker), 1 stitch bafter the 2 middle stitches (1 stitch after marker) and 1 stitch before the last stitch. The number of remaining stitches will vary with your tension in height, most important is here the height for the size, just decrease 4 stitches on every row from right side until you reach the given measurements for your size. Happy knitting!

Buon lavoro!

DROPS Baby 43-21 |
|
------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The slipper is worked back and forth, from mid-back. LEG: Cast on (44) 44-48-52-52 (56-56) stitches with circular needle size 2.5 mm and DROPS Baby Merino. Work GARTER STITCH – read description above, back and forth until the piece measures (8) 8-8-9-9 (9-10) cm. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Knit 1 row from the wrong side where you decrease 14 stitches evenly spaced in all sizes = (30) 30-34-38-38 (42-42) stitches. On the next row work holes as follows: Knit 1, * knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* until there is 1 stitch left, knit 1. Knit 1 row from the wrong side. Work 3 ridges and cut the strand. FOOT: Place the outermost (11) 11-12-13-13 (15-15) stitches on each side on a thread. Start from the right side and work garter stitch for (3½) 4-4-4½-6 (7-9) cm over the middle (8) 8-10-12-12 (12-12) stitches – finish after a row from the wrong side. Work the next row as follows from the right side: Knit the (11) 11-12-13-13 (15-15) stitches from the one thread, knit up (9) 11-11-12-15 (18-23) stitches along the side of the mid-piece, knit the (8) 8-10-12-12 (12-12) stitches on the needle (front), knit up (9) 11-11-12-15 (18-23) stitches along the other side of the mid-piece and knit the (11) 11-12-13-13 (15-15) stitches from the other thread = (48) 52-56-62-68 (78-88) stitches. Continue with garter stitch for a further (1) 1½-1½-2-3 (3-3) cm. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the row. On the next row from the right side decrease as follows: Knit 1, knit 2 together, knit until there are 3 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2, knit 2 together, knit until there are 3 stitches left, knit 2 together and knit 1. Decrease like this on each row from the right side to finished length. Cast off when the foot measures (2½) 3-3-4-5 (5-5) cm from where the stitches were knitted up. Sew the seam under the foot and up along mid back – sew in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch. Work the other slipper in the same way. CORD: Cut 4 strands DROPS Baby Merino of 1 metre each. Twist them together until they begin to resist, fold the cord double and it will continue to twist. Tie a knot at each end. Thread the cord up and down through the row of holes on the slipper (start and finish mid-front). |
