Hur man läser stickdiagram

Ett stickdiagram består av rutor, 1 ruta = 1 maska - symbolförklaringen berättar hur maskan ska stickas. Diagrammet visar alla maskor sett från rätsidan (om inte något annat är specificerat).

Ett diagram ser ut såhär:

A.1 är namnet på diagrammet, och refererar till hela diagrammet.
A.2 är endast den delen av diagrammet som är innanför klamrarna.
Detta tal refererar till hur många maskor första varvet av diagrammet går över.
Detta är symbolförklaringen: den förklarar hur varje maska ska stickas, eller i vilken färg det stickas.

Man läser ett stickdiagram motsatt mot hur man normalt läser: Från höger till vänster, nerifrån och upp. Du börjar alltså nederst i det högra hörnet, och jobbar dig mot vänster och uppåt (se RÖD cirkel och pilar under). Om det ska börjas med en annan maska så står detta specificerat – man kan t.ex. börja på olika ställen för de olika storlekarna (se BLÅ fyrkant under).

Ska det stickas flera rapporter av ett diagram (alltså, om det ska upprepas på bredden), stickar man till slutet av raden, och börjar på nytt med första symbolen igen.

Fram och tillbaka:

När du stickar fram och tillbaka, kommer vartannat varv stickas från rätsidan och vartannat från avigsidan. Eftersom diagrammet visar alla maskor sett från rätsidan, måste det därför stickas motsatt när det stickas från avigsidan (se blå pil i diagrammet under): du läser varvet från vänster till höger, rätmaskor stickas aviga, avigmaskor stickas räta (detta står ofta i symbolförklaringen: «rät från rätsidan, avig från avigsidan.»).

Runt:

När du stickar runt, stickas alla varv från rätsidan, och diagrammet läses därför endast från höger till vänster. När du ska börja på ett nytt varv går du helt enkelt till symbolen längst till höger på nästa varv i diagrammet (se röda pilar i diagrammet under).

Flera olika diagram efter varandra:

Om du ska sticka flera olika diagram efter varandra på bredden/på varvet stickar du såhär: sticka 1 varv i 1:a diagrammet, sticka sedan 1 varv i 2:a diagrammet, och 1 varv i 3:e diagrammet osv. KOM IHÅG: Om du stickar fram och tillbaka måste diagrammen stickas i motsatt ordning mot avigsidan – alltså börja med diagram 3, sedan diagram 2 och till slut diagram 1. De stickas dessutom åt motsatt håll, som vanligt.

I mönstret kan det stå såhär: «Sticka A.1, A.2, A.3 totalt 1-1-2-3-4 gånger». Här stickas först A.1, sedan stickas A.2, medan A.3 ska upprepas 1-1-2-3-4 gånger på bredden (välj din storlek). Alltså, det är ENDAST A.3 som ska upprepas. A.1 och A.2 stickas bara 1 gång var.

När maskantalet inte går upp i hela rapporter av diagrammet:

Några gånger går maskantalet inte upp med hela rapporter av diagrammet på bredden. T.ex.: A.1 går över 12 maskor, och detta ska upprepas över 40 maskor. Här stickar du då 3 hela rapporter av A.1 (= 36 maskor) och så stickar du de 4 första maskorna av den fjärde rapporten (se röd streck under). Oftast gäller detta diagram med upprepande mönster, så att det inte blir något avbrott i mönstret på plagget.

Dera Mrs Van Dijk, you are supposed to follow diagram called M/L (our designer Team will edit this into L/XL, thanks for noticing), so that you work the 32 sts in this diagram a total of 4 times in the round = 128 sts. Happy knitting!

Dear Mrs Galbraith, work as follows: 5 front band sts, A.1 (= 12 sts), repeat now the 10 sts in A.2 a total of 14 times (= over the next 140 sts) and work now the stitch in A.3 and end with 5 front band sts, so that you have: 5+12+140+1+5=163 sts. Can this help?

Dear Mrs Gram, remember diagrams are read bottom up, ie in this pattern you will decrease 1 stitch in the K3 section (= slip 1, K2, psso), then on 2nd row, make 1 yarn over between these 2 remaining stitches = you will have 3 sts again for row 3 and 4. See also this video. Happy knitting!

Dear Helen, A.1 is the beginning of the row, A.2 is the repeats in the row, which depends on the size; and A.3 is the end of the row, but afterward you repeat A.1 so that the garment is symmetrical. When you work A.1c over A.1d you need to work the diagram downward. Happy knitting!

Dear Mrs Solomon, on the first row of "x-part" of the diagrams, you will have to decrease over some stitches, but at the same time, working diagrams, you will have to increase 2 sts in each A.1, A.2, A.3, A.4, A,5 so that you should get a total of 102 sts at the end of the round. Happy knitting!

Bonjour Louise, tout dépend, si vous tricotez en rangs, vous pouvez alors tricoter le rang suivant du même côté (endroit ou envers), du côté où le fil se trouve pour éviter d'avoir à faire suivre ce fil (et risque de resserrer l'ouvrage), si vous tricotez en rond, vous le reprendrez au début du tour suivant.
