How to read a schematic drawing

How to read a schematic drawing

You will find the schematic drawing for each garment below the patterns. It will have all the measurement for each size we have in this pattern. If you follow the pattern and keep the tension/gauge the garment will have the same size as the schematic drawing.

If you think it is hard to decide what size to make, if can be a good idea to measure a sweater you have and like the size of. Then you can pick the size by looking at the schematic drawing and find the correct size there.

If your sweater is approx 60 cm/23½" in length, the chest circumference is 96 cm/37 3/4" and the hip circumference is 108 cm. Then this will be equivalent to size L in this schematic drawing.

Circumference at the bottom = 54 cm/21 1/4" x 2 = 108 cm/42½" all the way round!

Chest circumference = 48 cm/19" x 2 = 96 cm/37 3/4" all the way around the chest!

I am knitting Drops Children 7-6 (size 7-8) and having problems understanding the pattern on the casting off for the front. I’m starting to cast off 3 sts on row 110. Please confirm the row numbers that I need to decrease the stitches until 92 sts remain.

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Dawn, size 7/8 in this pattern is 3rd size - you start front piece with 108 sts and cast off for armhole 3 stitches at the beg of next 2 rows = 102 sts remain, then cast off 2 sts at the beg of next 4 rows = 94 sts remain and finally cast off 1 st at the beg of next 2 rows = 92 sts remain. Happy knitting!

Was bedeuten bitte gestrichelte Linien in Maßskizzen?

Bon crochet!

Dear Mrs Myer, in this pattern, crochet evenly 13 ch-space in the 2nd size along the armholes (not in the chain spaces decreases for armholes, only in the "straight" edge, make sure your tension is right. Happy crocheting!

Bon tricot!

Hi, I would like to knit 'Meet the Sun' (pattern no sk-020) for my petite 14 year old daughter. The dimensions of the pattern don't make sense - the chest measurement is 104 centimetres for a small, which seems very big if measuring at the bust. She is 74 cm at the bust (exactly) and 91 cm if measured just below the shoulders. Can you advise where I should measure her to be in line with the measurements in the chart, so that I can resize it correctly?

15.08.2020 - 17:45:

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Mrs Shine, this pattern is quite oversized, reason why measurements looks so big - see also picture. We unfortunately are not able to adjust every pattern to every single request, please contact your DROPS store or any knitting forum for any individual assistance adapting this pattern to the desired size. Happy knitting!

I am going to knit The Rower Drops 174-15. My stitch gauge is correct for sts after using a smaller needle (5) .However my row count is 26 ( two Less). I tried to calculate how many extra rows I would need for this pattern but I need an official correct count and then how much extra yarn to buy. Can you help me with this? Thank you

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Mrs Devine, try first to wash and block your swatch and then count rows again if they are matching the tension or not. Happy knitting!

Hi, I'm knitting drops 89 17 pattern and my question is: when the instructions says "body" , you have to knit back plus front, all in one? Or you have to knit the body x2 ( two pieces: back and front? )

22.07.2020 - 15:23:

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Natalia, in this pattern body is worked in the round = in one part, this mean you cast on stitches for both front and back piece on the same needle = 84 to 126 depending on the size and work in the round to the armhole. Happy knitting!

Dear Trisha, "ca" means "approximatively" - but I couldn't find this abbreviation in this pattern in English. Happy knitting!

The directions shows number of stitches in relation to size. But the schematic drawing shows number differently than the stitch numbers in the directions. In the drawing the number range from 64 to 75 for the top. Yet the pattern range is 35 to 41 stitches to start. What does the 64 to 75 mean? Stitches, inches?? Following the pattern directions does not yield the size indicated. I have ripped out this piece twice and am determined to do it again till it is right.

25.06.2020 - 02:15:

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Mrs Nordgren, the numbers in the chart shows only finished measurements in cm for each size - maybe you could ask your question in the pattern you are working on? It would be much easier for us to help you with the number of stitches and measurements - but also remember to check and keep your gauge to get the correct finished measurements as in the chart. Happy knitting!

44 cm virker urimelig langt for minste størrelse.
