How to work half treble crochet (htr)

How to work half treble crochet (htr)

Here we have made a chain-row (ch-row). You start to crochet half treble crochet (htr)in the 3rd chain from the hook or in the stitch stated in the pattern. Look here!

Figure 1: Grab the yarn with the hook so that you have 2 loops on the hook.

Figure 2: Insert the hook in the 3rd stitch form the hook, grab the yarn and pull through the chain stitch. You have 3 loops on hook.

Figure 3: Grab the yarn again and pull it through all the stitches on the hook.

There is now 1 stitch left on the hook, continue like this and make a half treble crochet in every chain to the end of row. You will get different structures if working only in back loop, front loop or in both loops. If not stated in pattern, it will usually mean to work through both loops.

Dear Mrs Damico, have you looked at the video showing how to crochet a half treble crochet? I'm not sure what you mean with S S, maybe you could explain? Thanks for your comprehension.

When starting the next row do I need to add stitches?

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Beth, when working half treble crochet, we usually crochet 2 chains at the beginning of next row to turn with, then continue with 1 half treble crochet in each half treble crochet from previous row (do not count the 2 chains as first stitch). Happy crocheting!

DROPS Design answered:

Dear Olga, can you please give us the pattern number you are crocheting? It would be the best way to check and be sure. Happy crocheting!
