PUMPKIN – SHORT SUMMARY OF PIECE:
Work in the round, bottom up according to diagram. Work the stem at the top last.
PUMPKIN:
Use hook size 3.5 mm and colour cedar. Work diagram A.1 = 12 treble crochets on round.
Work diagram A.2 1 time, and work diagram A.3 5 times in total on round.
After 4th round of A.2 and A.3 piece measures approx. 10 cm, bottom of pumpkin is now done. When diagrams A.2 and A.3 have been worked, the pumpkin measures approx. 5 to 6 cm from the bottom up - double crochets and slip stitches will contract the piece and make a curved shape on the pumpkin. Fill the pumpkin with some cotton wool.
Work diagram A.4 1 time, work diagram A.5 5 times in total on round.
When diagrams are done, 12 stitches remain on round.
Switch to colour misty forest, now work double crochets while AT THE SAME TIME working all stitches together 2 by 2 = 6 double crochets, finish round with 1 slip stitch in first stitch.
Do not cut the yarn, now work the stem from here. Work 20 chain stitches, turn piece and work back in chain stitches as follows: Work 1 double crochet in 2nd chain stitch from hook, work 1 half treble crochet in next stitch, continue with 3 treble crochets in every chain stitch until only 2 chain stitches remain on row. Work 1 half treble crochet in next stitch and 1 double crochet in last stitch on row.
Cut the yarn, and use end of yarn to baste together the 6 double crochets worked at the top of pumpkin.
